How are you now Dave ? Do you have enough warning of your seizures to put yourself into a safe position beforehand ?

Hello cat3 , I`m afraid the warning I get now is very short, I then get my seizure about 10-20 seconds later, but thankfully my seizures are very well controlled.As your well aware we cannot drive a car if we get a lot of seizure, so I bought myself a mobility scooter,I asked a policeman, can I drive these,he replied `As long as you have a warning,stop the scooter,yes,`so that`s what I use.Also I live in Hazel Court, in Swansea.Its a sheltered housing complex, so I have no worries,and that has reduced my fits,in fact I saw my Neurologist a couple of weeks ago,and he told me,I`m now finished with the hospital.All the best Dave.

It's good to hear you can escape outdoors occasionally. I don't get out often apart from weekly visits to family and shopping 2-3 times a week but my garden is my little bit of paradise.

I'm lucky not to have seizures, but I can't walk far since a haemorrhage 7 years ago left me with various issues including poor balance and inability to walk in a straight line !

I hope you're feeling better now Dave......look after yourself.

Hello Cat,I have no problems with my legs, like you I have problems with my balance.I was told by my parents, when I had my meningitis, fluid around my brain was coming out of my ears, and our ears control our balance. I have walked off the pavements a couple of times,nearly knocked over once.I often hit my leg on the corner of the coffee table,etc.I had to have an operation on my ears,years back because I had arthritis on the bones in our ears.So I wear hearing aids now. It was only a figure of speech Dave ; my mum was my protector and best friend. It was an expression she used in jest when my brother or I were bored or unwell, but in reality she was a lovely, cuddly mum.

……..but yes, it did include you ! 😄 x

Hello cat3, no I never have enough time to get safe, they just come on, I may have time to hold a signpost, but that's all. I then have the seizure, very tired afterwards, get on my scooter, come straight home, and go to bed.

So still no improvement since we talked 3 years ago Leonard ; and none of the usual seizure meds have worked for you ? But you do seem to cope well considering the challenges .....bit of a fighter I guess ......must be exhausting though.

Hello cat3, sorry I had to leave you so quickly yesterday, when they start,I have only a small amount of time to see to myself. Had some good news today, my caseworker here has been in touch with Social Service, and a chap is coming to see me tomorrow, Sian my caseworker will also be here, to see what he can do for me, mixing with other people, going for walks, going for a run in the car. So I`ve been making a list of things on how my epilepsy affects me, ready to show him tomorrow. Hope you are okay, will let you know, the outcome of the meeting. Dave.x

It's good to hear you have extra support coming your way Dave ; I hope the Social Services chap comes up with ideas for improving your quality of life with extra outings and more social contact.

Having something to look forward to, however small, in the midst of everyday routines can make such a difference to our mental health. So, yes, do let me know how the meeting goes !

I'm ok thanks ; just getting used to the dark evenings and already dreaming of Spring ! 😏 xx

Thanks, cat3, as you correctly say, even the small things can make a difference, so I will see what he says, I`ve made a list of things I like to do, helping in the Singleton dogs home, etc, anything with animals. As I promised earlier, will keep you informed, night,night.

I have had them since puberty now an old dear they started to slow up, there's me thinking I wont have them as often ..Wrong I then had an SAH /Bleed on Brain and back they come with a vengeance and the last one I had, I told Epilepsy Doc that it wasn't like any before so he said have MRI and had 2 small bleeds which healed themselves. But I must admit I was in full panic mode. It said chronic I assumed that it meant worse so looked it up and Chronic isn't as bad as acute !!! ..Rotton when you come out of seizure as I feel so tired and have to lay there a while for limbs are too weak. I always call for my Mum when I feel myself going into one ...poor Mum died in 1976 xxxx Good luck Leonard and lets hope this is the last one for a while xxx A long while

Hello cat3, thanks for your reply, would have replied earlier,had bad day not seizures but headaches, most people take their parents for granted , I did,but when mum died I was glad,NOT that she died ,but was out of pain,same apply`s to dad . Still take flowers to their grave ,couple of times a year, all the best cat3.
