Strabismus surgery for cosmetic reasons?

Long story short, I had a terrible reaction to a substance which isn't licensed in the UK which ate into the bone around my eyes causing previously aligned eyes to misalign.

Problem is that it hasn't affected my vision (although I get bad headaches now, which may or may not be related).

I had an eye test done at Specsavers and that confirmed that I don't suffer from double vision or anything that would warrant strabismus surgery on functional grounds.

Surgery for this condition (strabismus) is only available in the UK (even privately!) if eyesight is affected, which is a real shame because according to the stats 90% of the people who get it done cite cosmetic purposes as their primary reason.

It has really affected my confidence and self-esteem. Wonky eyes aren't something easily missed/that can be easily corrected by make-up etc.

My question is: are there any ways I can fake it or will vision tests always show that my vision is OK?
