Botox!!

Hi everyone, I had a Botox injection into my right arm just over a week ago it was to help me get my wrist straighter, this has worked however, I’ve lost the use of my fingers I cannot bend them or move them unless I use my “good hand” I rang the clinic where I had it done and they’ve never heard it happening like this before I am a medical anomaly it would appear!! I was just wondering if there is a slight possibility that this has happened to anybody else at all?!?!? Thanks for reading xx

The nearest I can get to identifying with this is having fingers (on my dominant hand) which constantly lock owing to arthritis and which I have to 'unlock' with my other hand. I recently underwent a nerve conduction study but haven't had the results yet, though it's my rheumatologist's belief that nerve damage (from years of manual work) is the cause.

But I've no experience of Botox except for hearing of complications with 'bad batches' or nerve damage from the procedure. Have the clinicians offered any remedial treatment Tigg, or do they expect you to regain the use of your fingers in time ? 😧

I rang the clinic to check if they knew and they said they’ve never heard of anything like before.....so I don’t know what’s going to happen the other problem is I work in a busy supermarket on the checkout my speed has dropped down because I can’t use my right hand at all but they don’t believe it’s anyr to do with the injection I’ve just had!!

Thank you for replying xx

Surely too much of a coincidence to be unconnected with the procedure ! I suggest asking your GP for an urgent referral to a specialist for investigations ; if the clinic aren't following up your issue, and denying any responsibility/connection, then their duty of care is seriously lacking.

Dear Tiggs 85 I hope you're doing better now. Personally, I have been petrified of Botox, ever since they began to advertise it as a new product, made from Botulism, of all deadly things ! This doesn't pertain to you, so don't misunderstand - an article from a popular women's magazine...Botox cosmetic (so called) may cause serious side effects that can be life threatening. Get medical help right away if you have any of these problems any time (hours to weeks) after injection of Botox cosmetic : PROBLEMS SWALLOWING, SPEAKING, OR BREATHING, due to associated muscles, can be severe and result in loss of life. You are of the highest risk if these problems are pre-existing before injection, swallowing

problems may last for several months. SPREAD OF TOXIN EFFECTS. The effect of botulinum toxin may affect areas away from the injection site and cause serious symptoms including : loss of strength and all-over muscle weakness, double vision, blurred vision and drooping eyelids, hoarseness or change or loss of voice, trouble saying words clearly, loss of bladder control, trouble breathing, trouble swallowing. BOTOX COSMETIC DOSING UNITS ARE NOT THE SAME AS, OR COMPARABLE TO, ANY OTHER BOTULINUM TOXIN PRODUCT. There has not been a confirmed serious case of spread of toxin effect when Botox cosmetic has been used at the recommended dose to treat frown lines, row's feet lines, or both a the same time. Botox cosmetic may cause loss of strength or general muscle weakness, vision problems, or dizziness within hours to weeks of using Botox cosmetic. If this happens, do not drive a car, operate machinery, or do other dangerous activities.

Please find a specialist as soon as possible, you may be able to reverse what the Botox has done to you - I am so sorry you fell for this deadly hype. Praying for your total recovery.

Hi Tigg - The reason I wrote down the whole front page was to express how dangerous Botox is, whether it's used for an arm, a leg, wrinkles, or anything else. No matter what hopes you had for it helping your arm - it backfired, miserably !! I also wanted for anyone else thinking of using Botox, to re-think a while. Have a great day !

I went a similar medical treatment and my arm felt numb for a while before I regained strength. However I hardly use my right arm 10 years after that treatment

Could you kind of use it before you had the Botox??

yes this has happened to my husband hand. He was able to hold stuff and get some range in his fingers but ever since he gotten Botox hes not able to pretty much do anything with his fingers. Hopefully with some therapy he can regain some movement. Doc said they cant control where it goes basically cant just hit one spot it had to travel to his fingers because his wrist is so tight. So now his wrist are back bent, i don't know what to do

I’m so sorry to hear this I hope they can help sort his hand out, that sounds exactly like me I’m really really hoping I can get back where I was, I work on a busy checkout at a supermarket and can’t go in at the moment because I can’t risk injury to my “good side” work have no idea why my hand is like this even though I’ve explained a good few times now!!

Xx
