I am new so all help gratefully received. I had craniotomy/cranioplasty for meningioma removal on 27/4/18.
Around three weeks later I developed fluid under scalp which builds over night and drains during the day. It is not improving despite trying to stay upright over night and is really getting me down and holding my recovery back. Has anyone else experienced this and how long did it last please

I haven't had this issue Jackie but I suggest you contact the hospital where you were treated and ask for advice from the specialist nurse attached to your consultant. It might be that you need a shunt ? x
Thanks cat3. I have told them and the nurse and they constantly say it will improve? They did not mention it previously and indeed I made a great recovery for the first three weeks... but yes I will go back to them. Thanks for answering and if there is anyone else reading maybe I will find in out I am not the only one 🤞
Don't know where everyone's gone Jackie, but being half-term I suspect many will be away on holiday. Can I ask ; could you be doing too much because your good recovery suggested it would be ok ? There must be a vast amount of healing for your brain/head to do before the discomfort settles.
And (if you haven't already) I suggest you phone Headway tomorrow for extra support/advice on your issues. The Headway helpline no. is 0808 800 2244 (office hours - free calls). xx
