Hi I'm new here. My TBI was 3 years ago due to a fall down stairs at home. I was in a coma for 5 weeks and then 4 months in a neuro rehab unit. Whilst in the coma I had a craniectomy and after some months since leaving hospital I had a cranioplasty. 10 days later I wasn't well and found I had an infection and had the plate removed. 6 months later I had another cranioplasty which this time was ok, that was 18 months ago. I'm doing pretty good really but people just don't get what it's really like and I have a lot of down days and get very emotional very easily. Fatigue is overwhelming. ESA has been a nightmare and still is, but that's another long story! Headway is brilliant and I wouldn't be where I am now without their support.

Hi
This is the second time this week we've heard of a cranioplasty infection.
You've had a rough time m'dear (all I sustained from falling down my stairs was slight bruising). But the after effects of any brain injury and the resultant intervention is invariably life changing as you'll be well aware.
Good to hear Headway were so supportive & I hope you'll find this forum a reassuring place to come. It's been (still is) a lifeline for me.

Hello Cej77
Welcome
I also have a number of problems from my brain injuries I suffered in September last year in a car crash that I still do not remember, one of those problems is fatigue as well and is a ongoing nightmare for me. I was in a coma for 13 weeks and nearly 6 months in hospital.
Ben
I know exactly what you mean. I'm still very sore and scabby but I suppose it's still early days yet. I really don't want an infection as I don't think I could go through the op again. And yep I too am very tired and have no energy but making the most out of the rest lol. X
