PIP is designed to maximise independence by helping with the extra costs that often come along with having a disability.... and if having the extra money allows a disabled person to work then it is doing exactly what it was intended to do, promoting independence.
PIP is payable regardless of the work you do, many people in full time work receive PIP.
However at the medical assessment when assessing your abilities it will take into account activities at work and this may effect the outcome.
This is a particular problem for a TBI, as presumptions can be made about if you can do that you can do this.
There is no 'fixed' number of hours, Pat-rick1 it's not like the 'old' JSA system.
It's a much more 'rigorous' process than the previous ones were, I know, I've been trying to battle my way through it since 2015. It SHOULD be to enable those of us with noted disabilities to access additional support to remain in/find suitable employment. In my experience, it has been the opposite "reports that she can ... I have decided that she could..."
Have someone else with you at the assessment, because the assessors will 'be creative with wording', and 'manipulate results'. Seek advice from anywhere you can access it, this is not me saying you "can't" complete forms, or "Lift either arm, as if to place something in a top pocket.", but both of my assessors were looking for "It would be reasonable to assume that she could..." get-out clauses.
It's income related ESA and Tax Credits that are affected if you work above so many how or the amount of earnings. PIP is not means tested.
