I notice there's a huge topic about depression raised by EmmaRose.
I suffered a serious head injury due to a car accident in ' 94 (U can read about it if U want in my profile. If only for the tips it is worth looking at).
Btw I would recommended that U all write about your own experiences. What's actually happened to yourself & any tips u have that might help others.
Anyway I was starting to say, re the depression thing. I'm bipolar as a result of the accident, like most people by the seems who have suffered from a brain injury.
I spent 10 years going in & out of some very serious bouts of depression, trying anti depressants that didn't help, until I was given lamotrogen, a mood stabiliser, which I'd suggest you ask your doctor about, cos like for me, it might help.
Disadvantage being you don't experience the incredible highs, can be a bit of a nightmare for others apparently, but I used t feel on top of the world & felt like I could achieve pretty much anything ;o)
But U don't experience the extreme lows, where U just can't be bothered with anything.
Can't be bothered is possibly, well, definitely is the wrong word, cos it is far far deeper than that.
Alternatively something that did snap me out of the depressions I was going through more often than not, my friends used to drag me out to a nightclub and the loud music stopped me thinking about anything & by the end of the night I was pretty much back to normal.
Not everyone would want to go to a nightclub. I certainly wouldn't anymore but anywhere with loud music.
At home probably not the best idea if U want to stay in good books with the neighbours eh ;o). So maybe this is one for the youngsters cos I can't think of anywhere where they play loud music that U can just goto without buying tickets. Maybe find a pub with a band.
Any suggestions please, although luckily I haven't been in a deep depression since starting the lamotrogen, so more for others than myself.
Don't get me wrong, I still go up & down too some extent, but nothing compared to before.
Anyway, hope this helps some people on here, cos it certainly helped me.
