I'm not sure how much weight is given to petitions and it has been bugging me.

Anyone who is any good with Twitter could tweet the Chief Operating Officer of Facebook @SherylSandberg directly and express your concern.

I would if I knew how to.

I know Pax.

I wish I could use it but on the other hand it is probably better that I can't because I need time to process information and Twitter seems to be instant.

Hope you're having a good day.

Didn't have a great night again. Finally fell asleep this afternoon for two hours. Sat watching the rain....Again.

Don't do technology to we'll. Keep trying snap chat ...so far have sent about a dozen pictures of my feet to my daughters. Why put default camera facing wrong way ?.

Oh just noticed rain has slowed to a drizzle yeaaahh.

Hi Shirley,

When you say you are not so sure how much weight is given to petitions, in other words are you saying you don't know how effective they can be?

I am not too sure either really but I do sign them here and there. Mainly ones that refer to halting the governments plans for some demented scheme or to put a ban on glyphosate being sprayed on our crops or to save the bees or something like that.

I have no real idea if my signature can help do something. I did see somebodies comment once on Facebook saying petitions were pointless but as far as I know, that was their opinion, I don't know if that is fact.

One thing I don't do is if I get an email about the petition I just signed, want to ramp up the pressure and they want me to donate money then they can forget it. I never, ever dish out money. Even if it was to a so called "good cause". You would think that your money is doing good but at the end of the day you have no idea where your money goes. All that money that has been donated to Oxfam, and still is, to stop global starvation and after all these years you still have starving nations! So it shows you what good your money does doesn't it.

Exactly Matt.

I have no idea how effective they are.

Even without having any social media skills I get the impression that on any given day there are almost as many petitions as there are people.

That is why I thought tweeting one of the Facebook bosses might be more useful.

How's the art work?

It depends on who and what, was a petitions to change the royal parks mind over one of the paths, the have reluctantly done so mainly as they have realised they misread local feeling one suspects.

Larger organisations less so, sometimes they will respond to twitter embarrassment though!
