Brain stem stroke survivors/carers

Welcome Tracey. Can you tell us a little more about your husband's treatment and after effects, and how you're both coping with the changes which all brain injury survivors experience ........................... to varying degrees.
Cat x
Welcome Tracey, be as specific as it suits you about your husbands issues. I personally bashed my own head in, so I can't be specific about being hit by a car, neither can my wife. Good luck x
Hi Tracey,
Sorry to hear about your husband.
I did not have a stroke but I was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 1996 that was located on the brain stem.
In 98 I was then diagnosed with a second tumour/cyst that was right next to the original tumour.
I was in a rollover car accident last August and have been recovering from a recent hospital stay you had brain swelling and bleeding and a stroke from bleeding in my brain stem. My crainioplasty was in December to reinsert the skull piece that was removed because of the brain swelling. I feel crappy most days and walking is especially difficult. My right leg and arm are stiff and painful. I actually had a day last week were I felt pretty much OK, but walking was still awkward and painful. Expect a much longer recovery time than they tell you. Two years is what I hear from others will pass before you feel better. Good luck.
