Thinking of changing my name...Again. Any one else / done it? Because of the obvious & have found too often rejections in specialist careers with present name. 10 yrs of torment/ missed contentment. Just No old me Left anyhow.

Sorry Ghost, but as I don't know your real name I can't imagine what the 'Obvious' problem could be ? And you said 'Again' as if you've changed your name previously.

Can you explain ?? :o x

Thought about it probably atleast 8 times in as many years. Not changed my name previously. Just the "obvious" meant am a complete opposite of my past self. My name is definitely a problem on employment. Started to comprehend this 10 yrs ago... Putting my photo on my cv would of Helped, unorthodox to some but happens frequently now in my field. Scientifically Looks / vibe important :)

Going to ponder New names, or abbreviation which would be more palatable for my not important immediate family.

It's a Short Life, might asweel make some waves...thankyou :)

We've all changed as a result of our respective brain injuries ; you might have already come across our common expression 'The old me' & 'The new me', which is an acceptance that the former version of ourselves is lost forever. So rather than a reinvented existance, we adapt to an amended one.

But if we reject our origins to totally reinvent ourselves from scratch, then we also reject all association with the past, including valuable experiences and relationships etc., meaning all our pre-BI life amounts to nothing.

I wouldn't want a change of name. I'm proud of my past achievements, and when I'm frustrated by my newfound difficulties, it's reassuring recalling capabilities which were only curtailed by events beyond my control.

Of course if there are too many regrets in your life Ghost, perhaps a change of identity might give you a head-start. But unless your name is Hitler or Satan I still don't get why a change of name would increase your career prospects.

But good luck whatever you decide ! x

ghost why run away from whats happened? you can reinvent yourself but your problems wont miraculously disappear.

we are what we are and were on a journey of discovery, like it or not, youre not and never will be the person you were before whatever it was you had.

Not running / in All senses. Just would be more comfortable, at peace.

Employment issues are secondary.

I'm who I am & certainly fortunate to being in my current unusual career, even tho I've had three Blonde Days in a Row...

Were All Different & confusing to ourselves & others.

But atleast we have this site to express ourselves & value a voice of personal experience.
