Paediatric First Aid

On Wednesday and Thursday of this week I was on St John Ambulance paediatric first aid course for my role as a foster carer.

When the trainer got onto the subject of brain injuries I interjected when he stated that injuries that penetrated the skull always cause more damage than one which doesn't.

When he tried to talk me down I took umbrage at his manner and proceeded to explain about my near fatal brain injury courtesy of TB meningitis before giving him and the class a swift explanation of what can happen to the brain once it starts hitting the front and back of the skull interior.

I should say that I was very gracious while watching him eat humble pie!
