When is an appointed not an appointment.

Yep there's the riddle.

The answer......when the initial appointment is a booking appointment.

Apparently for initial appointments you are now given a booking appointment. Then they later give you the actual appointment.

Now this is great if firstly they told you this and secondly didn't give you an actual appointment earlier than your booking appointment.

Just received a text to say I have missed my physio appointment that I have waoted months for.

So rang them up......took an hour to locate number. They then explained about the new system. I wrote all this down as I admit I was confused.

I asked how would I know about the second appointment time to be greated with a long errrrrr.

The solution another appointment. ....next week aaarrgghhh !!!!.

Has anyone else come across this or am I getting special treatment ????

Oh Pax it's a nightmare isn't it. I was waiting for a neuro appt and received a letter asking me to go online (good thing I have access to internet) and choose and appointment.

Great I thought ; how easy is that.............and convenient. WRONG ! I chose a 'slot' and was then directed to a phone number ? :o

I phoned the number to be told that the 'slot' I'd selected would be used to review my case, and an appointment would be allocated to me and sent by post !

When I phoned I politely asked the guy at the call centre whether he agreed that this system was over complicated and a waste of taxpayer's money. He said 'Yes, it probably is but it pays my wages'.

So after going online and two phone calls later and a letter through the post, I got my appointment. Crazy. xx

Its a stupid system.

Originally 2 weeks ago I received a frantic phone call from my gp saying an appt had come through fo7:30 am the next day.

Puzzled I contacted the hospital to be told it was an " imaginary" one so as to make a real one.

Errrr confused !!!!!. So you have now to make an appt to make an appt. So simple NOT.

Oh I love progress.

I'll be honest Pax, the whole of this just made me go 'Huh ? ? ?' I am so hoping that I don't need many appointments ! Oddly, just after seeing a neuro in August, an appointment letter arrived for Aug of next year ? Am wondering if they are sooo busy/ tests have such a long waiting list they are booking in extreme advance ? At least they haven't signed me off again yet ! x

Just to make it worse I had moved an appt from the morning to the afternoon so as not to be going backwards and forwards to the hospital all day. If I had left my other appt I would have been at the hospital already.

My head is spinning....bureaucracy gone mad!😳

Sounds like a script from the comedy classic 'fawlty towers'. Sadly, these are real life shenanigans as experienced by pax and cat.
