Post concussion syndrome - 6 months on and still suffering from headaches!

Am wondering what painkillers you are taking because some can cause headaches!
I've tried Paracetamol and ibuprofen.. I do try and avoid taking headache tablets and only resort to taking them if my headache gets too bad but by then it doesn't have any effect ..
Oxygen. Not enough. When I walked, my headaches used to reduce to half the intensity. From a 20 minute walk, around 15 minutes in, it was a good day if headache had gone. If it remained when I got home, I would throw all the windows open, put on my woollen hat and crawl into bed to sleep it off. With or without ibuprofen. And a pint of water by bed.
Hope you feel better soon x
I found that after a while I couldn't take ibuprofen or paracetamol. The GP started me on naproxen but when the consultant gave me amitriptyline he told me to stop taking naproxen / paracetamol / ibuprofen unless absolutely necessary. I stopped getting the permanent headache within 3 weeks of starting the amitriptyline and now only get them when I'm tired, stressed or have sat at a computer for a bit long.
Thanks Clare I think I will go back on the amitriptyline they did work but make me feel drowsy ..
have had the same problem for nearly ten years now , I have just had another 2 brain MRI scans to see what is going on, maybe you should have a scan.
lots of love xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

MRIs are sometimes unreliable in uncovering or showing actual brain damage that we with brain injuries have sustained. A couple of other tests that may be able to show brain function is an EEG brain map scan or a SPECT brain scan. The EEG brain scan is non-invasive and is painless. The SPECT scan is a bit more invasive in that the medical team puts radioactive isotopes in your blood stream so they can image the brain. The findings of the EEG brain map scan show which areas of the brain that are over and under active. One of the treatments used to calm down the over active areas and stimulate under active areas of the brain is called LENS (low energy neurofeedback system) therapy. Basically it sends a nano current (radio frequency) to the affected areas of the brain that in essence tells the brain "hey you need to reset how this part of the brain is working". For me it has helped calm me down from being so hyper vigilante and high anxiety, my sleep has improved, and headaches are lessening. Anyway may be worth a look at. I' currently reading The Healing Power of Neurofeedback: The Revolutionary LENS Technique for Restoring Optimal Brain Function
by Stephen Larsen that goes into more detail about this. Its been a good thing for me so far, four treatments into it. Wish you the best on your journey.
