I wonder if anybody else is regularly taken hostage by their bed and all attempts to escape are futile unless 'rescued' by a disbelieving wife or husband?
I used to be awake at sunrise prior to my Abi but now I'm quite happy to marinade in my bed for hours....

I think we've probably developed that syndrome where the captive becomes sympathetic to their captor ; in my case no amount of ransom would secure my release ! xx
Sorry to break the mould, but if I am in bed I am either asleep, so not thinking anything; wide awake when I should be asleep, so lying there trying to rest and pretend that I am asleep really; or in absolute agony with a migraine. I don't really do bed for the sake of it. I struggle to stay in it once I am awake, which at 4am can be a bit of a problem. I am the sort of person who proves that CFS is nothing to do with being 'tired'.
Plus our duvet spends so much time wrapped around OH that it wouldn't have a spare 5 minutes to take me hostage anyway.....😠
I wish my head hurts so much that I'm relieved when it's time to get up. Spending half the night either awake or in disturbed dreams, I sometimes wonder if I'm awake or not when I start 'coming round' . It's hard to know. I constantly fear I'm still in hospitsl if I hear a noise in the night or see a light so waking up properly can be a relief. I'm very jealous of all you duvet hostages I want to be one!

I get very frustrated with the level of fatigue I now have. For instance, I watch TV on the bed in the evening, resting my body but often end up falling asleep too early, around 9.30 last night ( missing the film I had been looking forward to watching ) so get my pre set 6 1/2 - 7 hrs and bing ! wide awake again. Hence I'm writing this at 4 AM !
Now I could get stuck in to some work ( which I permanently fall behind with, due to fatigue and random sleeping ) but options are limited as everyone else is asleep so it would have to be quiet tasks. So vacuuming and washing machine are out ( we live in a Park Home, like a static caravan , small and on 1 level ,so these things would wake everyone ) and it's too dark to get on with the garden. More likely I will watch TV/ find a documentary on youtube or even fall back on my latest new discovery - audio fairy tales ! ( sounds mad but I'm really enjoying these - it's nice to revisit things I used to know with my dodgy memory ) I'll be tired again by late morning and want another nap !
I can empathise with your disturbed sleep : Bladder needs, spasticity stretching, GERD ,asthma or restless legs often plague me. I too kept thinking I was still in hospital when waking, after a recent stay ( it's very surreal, isn't it ! )
Do you take anything, medicinal or herbal for your sleep issues ? Are you tired/ need a nap during the day ?
Have you tried relaxing music or audio books ( can be quite hypnotic ) Lots available on youtube for free : )
Well, the birds are singing , even though it is still full dark, the wind is rattling the sides of my plastic greenhouse outside the bedroom window and Jessica Fletcher is about to mourn the sad demise of yet another acquaintance on TV ( I wouldn't want to be introduced , it's the kiss of death ! )
I'm eyeing up my Matchmaker's Easter egg but surely it's too early in the day for that - or is it ? Nom, nom , nom, nom .....
Yes I go for download radio (all lined up at bed time each night), and yes - hard not to wake up the whole household as you try to find gainful employment in the early hours. Pain tends to wake me but I'm keeping off the painkillers where possible. Funny shaped pillow helps for finding better positions to rest in. Roll on next week when the clocks go forward and I may start hiking rather earlier in the day. Can't watch TV easily but do have a go, and if only id behave and take proper naps, I know life would be better.
