Sorry I have no idea but I hate to see unanswered posts.
Just to let you know my thoughts are with you and the family.

I think it's called woodmill in collumpton, that would certainly be closer to Falmouth than glenside, which is in Hampshire (I think). There was talk of them while I was at plym neuro rehabilitation (blimmin amazing bunch of staff there). Thankfully I recovered enough to continue my rehab at home. I hope your son continues to recover
He sounds like he's at the same stage as my Jake when he went to Glenside in Salisbury. They were amazing with him, seeing the man behind the issues and he made enormous strides forward whilst there.
The support workers are all really well trained and skilled at working with brain injury and the challenging behaviours it can bring.
He still talks about it today (3 years later) with fondness.
Good luck, all will be well.

My partner spent 8 months at the Woodmill in Cullompton. i can't fault it. The team were amazing, particularly his lovely OT who went out of her way to ensure he received the best home care package on discharge. He was happy during his time there, although he doesn't really remember it now. (He has very
poor short term memory). I used to bring him home most weekends and the drive wasn't too bad. We live in Newquay, so similar distance to you. I think Glenside is in Salisbury so a fair bit further to go, although I have heard only good about it so could be worth considering too.
Please feel free to message me if you would like any more info.

My husband was at Glenside, nr Salisbury for 4 months. The speech & language, & physio were great, but there was a real shortage of OT people there.
Because he didn't mix well with the other patients, this meant he would spend large amounts of time doing nothing!,,
Although the staff & surroundings are lovely, usual problems, not enough staff.
We fought hard to get him in there, we live about 40 miles away, but did regret it on occasions.
Often his room was not cleaned properly, we would arrange meetings but due to staff shortages, they would be cancelled.
Occupational therapy was the worst, hardly any existed.some days he would go to bed at 5.30 pm because there was nothing for him to do, after I left.
I seemed to do a lot of complaining, which I hate.
To be fair, he struggled being away from me & the staff would phone so he could speak to me, & because he could be quite challenging , I could normally calm him down on the phone.
I would think it's quite a long way for you( although they are very flexible re visiting times) & would guess Woodmill is closer.
Hope all goes well for you, happy for you to message if I can help in any way.
Know most of the pubs & B & Bs in the area, for eating, sleeping over etc xx
Look on their CQC ratings, it will hopefully reassure you. x
Hi Cat, you are the 2nd one now :),
This isn't really to answer your question but I just giggled at the title "sons brain injury" only because I read ir wrong.
At first glance I read it as "Sons OF brain injury" and thought of the American TV show "Sons of anarchy" about the California biker gang :)...
I'll get me coat.
Take care,
MJ
