Best deal for the disabled

Ok I know it's a political question, but I don't know enough about disabled issues to make an informed decision. which political party is going to give us disabled the best deal?

Your vote can ONLY be YOUR decision based on what you're told by the polititians in their campaign, however you also have think about how you've been treated over the last 5 years and how you were treated during the previous 5 years. Try to remember the promises made by current and previous governments during their previous campaigns and how or if they fulfiled them!

Punishing bankers for the financial collapse and stopping the massive bankers bonuses of course didn't happen and the financial cuts (necessary I agree though not as harshly or over such a short time scale) hit health systems, police and the poorest worst and the wealthy the least. The promised sale of shares of Loydds bank at below market price? Who is most in a position to take advantage of that, the rich or the poor, think Royal Mail privatisation ?

The things I note are the largest rise in use of food banks ever (I never expected to see an advert from Oxfam appealing for donations to support the hungry and needy in our own country as we did last year). During the last 5 years, the bedroom tax which affected the disabled and poorest the most, the constant changes in the benefit system which makes it even harder to understand with more hoops to jump through, especially for those who, as a result of BI, have cognitive problems and also the lack of understanding in the current system for the problems caused by mental illness by what ever cause.

This of course could be true for ALL the political parties and as there are so few 'concience' polititions left, just career polititions out for their own gain or publicity and totally detatched from the real world.

Farage may come across as a concience politition and connected to the real world but some of the policies behind him are quite devisive and subversively discrimitory.

I guess from my rant you can tell where my leaning are but this forum really isn't supposed to be about political debate and I certainly can't tell you which way to vote. You have to vote with your concience and belief but not voting is, in my opinion far worse than making a wrong choice. People died for our right to vote in a FREE democratic society.

I'm really tired today so I can't be bothered to show the same discretion as Geoff. When Blair got in I was in hospital, and the staff, from consultants to auxiliaries, were in a state of celebration for days. And so was I.

I know Blair turned out to be a massive disappointment, but this often happens when leaders lose their way & abuse their power ; as in the case of Thatcher.

I don't know enough about politics to say, but looking at what the current government have done over the past 5 years gives you some indication as to where their priorities lie. Promises aren't always kept, so don't rely on what they promise if they get into power. What we can say is that for many people, the current government have fallen short, with the poorest, including the disabled worst hit. The government argue it was necessary, but what about bankers bonuses and non-doms (people who work here but don't pay tax here), why didn't they make changes there too? I don't know about you, but I'm not a staunch voter of any party, but I have sense of right and wrong. I do think the political system needs to be shaken up a little.

I suspect that the disabled/needed care are very low down the list of all parties it shouldn't be so.

I think until a person become disable him/herself will never understand what we go through...It's all based on budgets and fundings...even when proposing an idea from research which can change people's quality life...my experience believe me.I learned from different charity organizations that it's all about money and projects...words but not actions for vulnerable categories....whatever the party you vote they don't care a s...of people suffering.One day I found a plea to try to find participants for a research based on elderly affected by autism in society ..to change a social attitude...do you know what?No an organization helping the elderly not one interested in autism helped in such search...draw your conclusion then...are they really intention ed to change something in society?I think are just words...politician s are great speakers but less is done for those in need including NHS neglects

And strangely it is those with BI who might become autistic or might be able to think in ways the average adult doesn't, which might innovate a solution to a common problem. There might be benefits to giving a listening platform to those with BI or disability for their insights. The stigma attached to BI and disability assumes all are at a disadvantage without realising some are at an advantage!!!! It is our job to teach them.

I watched an inspiring TED talk about a lady who had always been in a wheelchair. She saw a film about diving and decided she wanted to do it. So she invented a diving wheelchair with motor. She sat in it with full oxygen talk and mask and down she went. She describes the freedom she felt. She also scolded those who felt sorry for disabled, she never pitied herself in her life. She taught me much about myself and the world attitudes.

I am from STAFFORD, so as you can imagine, it is rather a topic in the town, and has not been missed by the politicians, we even have a 'Cure the NHS' candidate standing in my ward. I won't try to swing your opinion on which way to vote, so won't make a comment, sorry. I know which way I am voting, not based on current 'promises', but on what I see as a long history of support for the NHS!

Liberal Democrats have just announced that they would raise the Carers Allowance on the BBC, though I am not advocating any party. I vote for the person who best helps local people get what they need locally. For example the current MP has been very helpful chasing the council with regards to sorting out care workers.

Safe to say from the above that if the AV referendum had succeeded most of us would be ranking the same two parties last!!! Personally that would be the case for me even discounting disability as an issue. And even if James Cracknell was the candidate

b) will the other parties be better for the disabled

All I see is loads of promises by every party to spend money on this that and the other but no explanations of where the money is coming from, I expect we'll have to see won't we.

Again I'm not going to try and influence anyone my vote is my business but I will tell you this I will never vote Labour, they truly know how to bring a country to its knees.last time they were in power they doubled my tax bill in one fell swoop, so much for looking after the workers, I didn't earn muck but doubling that first rate of income tax was unforgivable.

I don't know a great deal about politics and stuff so I wouldn't know what party would give the disabled the best deal but I do know that you shouldn't vote for the tories or more like, I wouldn't. You wouldn't get a good deal out of them that is for sure.

They want to obliterate the NHS!

And according to me folks, labour is a waste of time. Ed Milliband has made some pretty convincing promises to better the UK, according to some emails I have received from the labour party, but like most politicians it is most probably lies.

Tony Blair was/is of the labour party and look what use he did, he gave most of the countries money away! What for. Bloody hooligan haha. He stitched us right up.

I and my mum are actually going to vote this year. I have never voted before but this year I shall give it a go.

Lib/Lab/Con not. They fail on basic management - action close out. I want change.

We should not accept trickery, greedy bankers, war addicts and failed promises as the status quo.

Just leaves one of two parties for me, UKIP or Green - yep I wrote it out loud! I'll see on the day.

Greens want to end mixed sex accommodation in hospital and abolish prescription charges.

UKIP want to fund dementia in line with Alzheimer's Research recommendations and license all medical management and scrap hospital parking charges.

I would never vote Tory, as they are the party of the rich, ran by the rich and they protect the rich. Almost every working person below a certain wage have been affected by the "Austerity" cuts caused by the Bankers who just carry on abusing their position and remember it was OUR money that bailed them out. People forget that no government have any money of their own, every penny is ours.

The person of the UK have become so docile as nobody really protests anymore I think this goes back to Thatcher who destroyed communities and had families fighting each other (Miners strike) This country has become so unrecognizable to me in the last 5 years Foodbanks in Britain in the 21st century the 4th richest country on Earth. This in itself is a absolute crime. I talk to people about politics a lot and the majority of the time the reply is "There's nothing we can do" As they got back to watching BGT, Eastenders etc etc Brainwashed.

We should of done what Iceland done when the crash happened they rounded up the Bankers put them on trial and jailed the guilty ones. You may not of heard about this because those in power don't want you to know, and as the media are controlled by the rich and very powerful, in fact they control the government's.

We need REAL change in this country but it won't happen because the Establishment won't allow it

Scary isn't it how corrupt the system is. They know that we know but are too civilised/impotent to take them on. The minority who do are just voices in the wilderness.

You now see Tories sidling up to UKIP on Question Time on Thursday as if they were best buddies.

If the main parties interfere and rig the voting system to ensure a win, which I believe they did with the Scottish independence vote, then you can guarantee civil society will smell a rat and respond accordingly.

The USA has a vested interest to keep one of the three main parties in power as they have infiltrated the networks to bias and influence government decisions and awarding key contracts.

Germany (July 2014) won a contract to manage taking off and landing at Gatwick airport below 4000 feet. Did you know, other countries are not allowed to bid on airport contracts in Germany, but they have bid and won a contract in the UK? So you see the EU is weighted in favour of certain countries in certain industries. Four out of six of our energy companies could be turned off at any time (to persuade the people in extreme circumstances) because they are owned by mainly EU countries.

Beware voting lib/lab/con. Its now or never and be ruled by USA/EU/Germany.

As far as I can see, the reason the UK is so corrupt is that the regulatory bodies are paid for by the industries themselves. This privatisation trend has come to negate and nullify democracy when jailing the corrupt is protected by group think and reputation maintenance. Don't the bankers know their reputation is in tatters already?!!!

I was thinking of voting ukip, not because of their attitude towards the disabled or their stance on healthcare, both important aspects though they are, but because they seem to be a grassroots party that includes people from all walks of life, such that it's truly a people's party and possibly the least corrupt. I'm aware though that these parties sometimes attract bad eggs.

I don't really like UKIPs policies that they select not to state publicly, however the thing I find do impressive about them, is that when a 'bad egg' is found in their party the action is immediate, they're thrown out very publicly! Unlike the main parties who seem to defend the 'bad egg' until such time as it may affect the vote or criminal proceeding are actually taken then they ask them politely ask them to resign and re-enroll them when the 'who ha' has died down.

I'm not sure my first post was actually clear in that I wasn't actually trying to tell anyone who to vote for but to with their conciense and beliefs.

My view: Working with homeless and insecurely housed, as an organisation basic kitchen and bedroom starters packs are harder to sanction. I understand cuts need to be made but it seems poor, vulnerable and disabled are penalised. Our clients really need help, some if we did not house quickly would die. Most of our clients have had lost jobs, teenagers from u stables homes. I never thought in 2015 I would see this. Police in Brighton this winter drove round to find rough sleepers who were not properly provided and warm enough. In my town this does not occur.

I am honestly not sure who to vote. UKCIP stance on immigration is to cut benefits per see. Does not help us? I have cancelled my universal credits training on Tuesday as it will be slashed again after the election .

It is really important that each person votes for the party they think is most able to lead the country. Noone can tell anyone else who to vote for because it is very much opinion-based. The only thing I would say is that you shouldn't vote based on one policy in isolation (eg who will do most for the disabled). You need to know what you are voting for in totality. Otherwise there is noone to blame when things don't turn out as you expect. There is a duty to look at the whole picture (or as much as we can). This includes economic and social policies as well as housing, immigration, tax etc. Its about who will do most for our society as a whole in the next 5 years. Lets face it, all the parties have their good and bad points. We just need to decide which have more good than bad.

seriously?? i could give you reams on iain duncan smith and esther mcvey or murderer mcvey as she's been termed round here. i'm not yet up to speed on the new disabled minister but i have to say its not looking good AT ALL. go to benefitsandwork.co.uk if help or advice needed. i couldnt believe how this government re defined limited mobility - the new definition goes something like can walk 200 metres with walking aids but cant do it again then you dont have limited mobility so dont expect any help. obviously this flies in the face of medicine, but capita atos etc get their doctors to sanction the new definition , thereby redefining their problem, the disabled, away.

however, if you have the far less common condition of agoraphobia, this does now mean that you have ultimately severely limited mobility and can get the top whack of mobility component of the new PIP.

to be honest as far as disability goes this brand of tory government reminds me of Nazi Germany. i know this isnt a particularly helpful comment of mine.
