looking for care homes
Sorry you've had no responses Jon ; it seems that no one here is familiar with Goole.
Have you asked Headway if they can help? The helpline no is 0808 800 2244 and they might well have some useful information regarding care homes in that area. It's a free call and they're available between 9am & 5pm mon-fri. and I'm sure they'll do everything they can to help.
We are in a similar situation with my ex-husband who is bedridden and neither eats nor speaks since a brain haemorrhage in 2012. He is now comfortable in a care home in Warrington but after being a fit, strong guy the transformation has been heart breaking for our son and daughter and his wife.
However, for someone of your son's age the anxiety must be overwhelming at times, and I feel so sorry about your situation.
But his age is a great advantage, and although it will be a lengthy process he has every chance of achieving eventual, satisfactory progress.
I hope you can find a suitable place for your son's further rehab. and that his condition will improve steadily and significantly.
Love & all best wishes, Cat xx
Hi
The Daniel Yorath rehab centre near Garforth in Leeds and Highfield care home Barkston Ash and Osborne House care home in Selby have good reputations, The care homes have a younger disabled unit. The Manager Carol at Osborne house is a lovely person . Not sure if you are aware but the inspection reports for care homes are published for public viewing via CQC. which helps to get a perspective on care homes weak and strong points and what they can offer.
Good Luck in your search and best wishes to your son.
