Does everyone's pituatory gland work okay? I have chronic hives and I dunno if it's cause i'm stressed all the time or if it's cause my gland is damaged.

Put your mind at rest Negeen and see Doctor as you will stress yourself out otherwise.

Hi I had high prolactin levels in my gland a few years back sure through stress, a simple blood test highlighted the issue, so as advised above best to check as a very important gland.

Hi ya, Negeen prob like you I have had blood tests for everything, I remember the nurse saying once your having them all apart from that pregnancy one ). This is before my subdural when I was feeling weak and having memory blackouts, sure they tested me for loads but know they can do specific for prolactin etc in the pitulary gland. Mine did go back to normal and never like most of my issues found the real answer.

Hi, I ve pituitary gland adenoma and I`ve to check my prolactine level periodically. If necessary even MRI scan.I ve been under pharmacological treatment for 14 year with a tablet that usually is used by people affected by Parkinson`s disease and it was improving my dopaminergic pathway. In fact I wasn`t allowed to participate to any sport event because in my blood there was elements of L dopa.I had an operation for removing tumor cells on pituitary gland , but they found out a brain aneurysm and there was a rupture of that and then I was coiled.I am a survivor of that event, I don`t take tablets anymore because ,the cells on my pituitary gland are in a quiescent state at the moment .Some doctors said that the formation of such cells could be caused by stress and anxiety, other said that is a genetical predisposition.I don`t know , but when I was 5 I ve been injected by 40 medication for stimulating appetite. The hypothalamus responsible for regulating hunger is situated near the pituitary gland, so maybe some effects of that drug involved even the pituitary gland, obviously is my idea, but I am not a doctor.Nowadays such operation is unthinkable and now adenoma in that place are cured by chemio or radiotherapy because it is situated in a restricted space, difficult to reach and maybe too many mistakes had been done it.The damage to pituitary gland can give different symptoms like changing of moods, dizziness, feeling low, excessive thirst, weakness and can influence thyroid functionality and other glands in your body.Pituitary gland is the masterpiece and regulate other glands and endocrine system, so a particular attention has to be kept on your hormones levels.

Hi Negeen, not necessarily you can have a dysfunction at hormonal level. In my case my pituitary gland was under active that way I took some dopaminergic drugs for increasing neuronal activity in that area and maybe because under stress or a mild depression there was an abnormal functioning. It`s nearly 10 years that I am not taking that tablet anymore and I am ok my hormonal levels are fine. The only way to check pituitary gland is through MRI and blood test, so you`ve to ask your GP about that. What do you mean that sometimes your pituitary gland is damaged?
