Is there a special brain injury home where people with brain injuries can live and maintain community?

Not sure about Brain Injuries - but a place where they put people with selective memories, whom misbehave in public and their social life, are compulsive liars and ramble on incoherently - we call it Parliament over there it is the senate :-)

Seriously there are quite a few here in the UK - one even opened up in Wales

I guess you are thinking of moving to live in one ?

Hi

In the UK these are usually private homes with high fees. I'm not sure what it's like in USA but maybe you could ask your GP or google to see if you local area has these homes.

I think they generally have pretty strict criteria for admission and are designed for those who even with support provided would be unable to live safely in the community. The fees are high and there is often a waiting list.

I have not heard of a community where TBI survivors live independently. Its an interesting idea but I'm not sure I would like it.

That sucks :( I think it's a great idea. Sometimes I think I won't be able to handle the demands of the real world and a getaway with ppl like me sounds like the besy alternative reality.

Although the big bad world can be overwhelming at times I am 100% sure that had I not been exposed to all the challenges it presents I would not have made anywhere near the amount of progress I have made. Of course it would be easier to live in a bubble where everyone understands and appreciates the issues but it is not reality and in that kind of environment there would be no need to strive forward. Perhaps having a break away with a BI group could provide the break that you need. I know there are BI camps in the USA. I have a friend who is involved with BI groups there and they go on camps and getaways, support each other and try to raise awareness and support in their local community. Perhaps something like that would be useful?

If you really wanted to get away to a more caring, less stressful, less judgemental place how about looking into one of the Eco / Green communities ? May even find a new career or future out there ?
