This community is great

This community is wonderful, wish I'd known about it years ago. It's fantastic to talk to people who really understand & don't judge

You're all a great support.

I think anyone with a head injury should be pointed in this direction I only found it because of a friend of my niece, yet when I mentioned it to the consultant at the rehab unit he said, yes it's really good isn't it!! Why did they not tell me?

Welcome!

It's good to talk without having to keep explaining. I think some of the medical professionals are so focused on med stuff that they perhaps don't recognised the value of support.

I find the medics very frustrating. GP said "you're the only patient in the 40,000 on the practice list so we can't really help much you need to do everythihg through the neuro so he can tell us what to do"'. Neuro said fascinating you're the only ICH I've got. I am his guinea pig for the Botox injections in my head to treat the pain. I don't want to be a fascinating guinea pig, I want to be treated.

I'm new to the community too, I finding it a big help also, it's nice not to be pigeon holed and assumptions made against you.

I can't complain about the GPs they are very helpful and always listen to me, if I hadn't been sent to the hospital by my GP I'd have gone into a coma at home on my own so eternally grateful, but it's beginning to look like I was actually suffering from PRES which in my case would have been caused by incorrect blood pressure medication, so p'raps they are just covering themselves, forever cynical. But the damage is done and can't be undone just glad it's not worse. If it was PRES the consultant at the rehab unit said he'd only seen 3 cases in his working life, I was the third, and I'd recovered much better than the others!!!!!! Very sobering. Janet xxx

Hi all,

Isn't this the issue here - the wide variation in after care, which people with 'neuro conditions' receive? And if you don't fit the box........ It is so frustrating to just keep going over the same old.

Hi I don't post a lot but find this site very helpful, it is true that there doesn't seem to be this kind of support after leaving hospital.

This site has given me extra strength and a whole lot of knowledge that would have been impossible to find on my own in the community where I live. Not to mention the massive support from all the members of this site.

We are unique as it seems the support we receive from each other is support from people that know how we feel. No doctor can offer that kind of empathy.

Here's to everyone in this community!

Hello. I have just joined the site. My partner suffered an serious head injury some time ago and it would be nice to have like minded people who are in my situation to talk to.

As many of you are aware my daughter suffered a TBI back in February following a road traffic accident in the snow and I found this site was my lifeline. I didn't find it until a couple of months ago but the help and advice from people in my and my daughters situation has been invaluable to us. Jo xxx

Hi I am Sue. Your post interested me because you sound as though you are real advocates of this site. My partner was attacked over 6 years ago and suffers the effects every day. It would be lovely to talk to you and share our experiences. Take care and have a good day. Sue

Hi Sue. What an awful thing to happen to your partner and yourself. What an evil world we live in at times. Yes this site is amazing. I felt that I got more useful information and support from the lovely people on here than we did from the medical profession. Whilst our GP has been great once Victoria left hospital and rehab we felt that we were just left to get on with it alone. My hubby stayed quite strong throughout but a couple of months ago I felt that I wasn't coping too well so out doctor suggested this site and I'm s glad he did its been a life saver. If you have any questions or concerns then ask away coz there will always be someone who can give their take on things. Best wishes Jo xxx
