I really would have thought this was a question for the doctors ..so much depends on the reasons behind the loss of balance and what can be done to help manage the issues it brings.

Hi nick_01,

Thank you for your question. As iforget says, this is probably a question for your doctors, although it may be a very difficult one for them to answer.

Have you ever tried any rehabilitation for this? Such as seeing a Neuro-Physiotherapist? There may be things that can be done to help manage the condition. If a 'cure' is not possible, an Occupational Therapist may be able to help with aids, adaptations etc that can help manage it further.

Best wishes,

I'm with you on the standing in the dark problem..........same If I get soap in my eyes in the shower and can't see ..........I panic & lose my balance. :-(

Yes,nick, you need a proper diagnosis. I have had balance issues for many years but, as I know what the causes are, I have developed strategies for managing it.

It's like any other health problem, you need to get to the root of the problem before it's treatable. Go back to your GP and ask for a referral to a specialist.

Balance after many types accident - it is treatable, inevitably - with one's determination and one's own 'legs to stand on'. Make your way back - it comes.
