WHAT A TRAGIC STORY & WELL DONE FOR COPING AS WELL AS YOU HAVE.

I HAVE TO USE CAPS AS WELL AS MY EYESIGHT IT TOO RUBBISH FOR LOWER CASE.

I DO ALL MY SHOPPING ON LINE. I CAN'T COPE WITH SUPERMARKETS AT ALL. I DON'T DO CROWDS ANYMORE & EVERYONE JUST SEEMS TO BE RUSHING TOWARDS ME SO I END UP NOT KNOWING WHERE I AM. SOMEONE GOES & COLLECTS MY PILLS FROM THE PHARMACY IN TESCO FOR ME, I CAN'T EVEN DO THAT.

I'VE HAD THE MOST HORRENDOUS ANXIETY SINCE THE BI, AT IT'S WORST I USED TO SIT WITH A BLANKET OVER MY HEAD WISHING I WASN'T HERE.

THEN I DISCOVERED THE JOYS OF ESCITALOPRAM (CIPRALEX) AN ANTI DEPRESSANT. IT TOOK A BIT OF TINKERING TO GET THE DOSE RIGHT BUT I CAN HONESTLY SAY THE ANXIETY IS AT LEAST 70% BETTER UNLESS I HAVE TO GO OUT ANYWHERE BUT EVEN THEN ITS ABOUT 40% BETTER.I CAN NOW POTTER AROUND IN THE GARDEN, WALK TO THE POST BOX (5 MINS AWAY) WITHOUT PANIC & GET TO THE VILLAGE SHOP (15 MIS AWAY) WITH A BIT OF PSYCHING MYSELF UP FOR IT. I FEEL SO GOOD WHEN I ACHIEVE SUCH THINGS AS THEY WERE IMPOSSIBLE FOR YEARS.

I HAD NO QUALMS ABOUT TAKING ANTI DEPRESSANTS. I WILL TAKE ANYTHING THE NEURO

SUGGESTS.

THERE'S A GOOD THREAD GOING ABOUT HOW DIFFICULT WE FIND TALKING. CHECK IT OUT.

.BEST OF LUCK, WE ARE ALWAYS HERE.

Hi there. I take anti depressants too. My Neurologist put me on Mirtazapine. They're great. I used to get panic attacks with my anxiety, but now I don't. And they are also great for a good nights sleep.

Do you use ear plugs to lessen the noise?

I used to wear dark glasses all the time but now my glasses have reactolite lenses and I have prescription sunny glasses.

THANKS VERY MUCH ....

SADLY I HAVE VERY SMALL EAR HOLES (DON'T KNOW THE RIGHT WORD) & I FIND IT REALLY UNCOMFORTABLE TO PUT ANYTHING IN THEM EVEN WHEN YOU CAN SQUASH THE EARPLUG TO GET THEM IN THEY POP OUT WHEN THEY EXPAND.

I'VE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO WEAR IN EAR EARPHONES WITH AN MP3 EVEN IF THEY'RE KIDS.

I WAS A BIT PEED OFF WITH NEXT DOOR WHO WERE STILL HAMMERING IN THEIR HOUSE AT 10.30 LAST NIGHT BUT HE DID APOLOGISE FOR THE NOISE THEY WERE MAKING.

YOU COULD TRY THE WAX ONES ZEB, FROM BOOTS. THEY CAN BE CUT TO SIZE AND CAN BE 'KNEEDED' INTO SOFT BALLS WHICH CAN BE MOULDED PERFECTLY TO THE SHAPE OF THE EAR AND, ONCE IN PLACE, CAN BE MANIPULATED UNTIL COMPLETELY COMFY.

in reply to cat3

GOOD IDEA I'LL TRY THEM. THANK YOU.

I USE THEM - CAN'T USE NORMAL IN EAR PLUGS TOO SMALL LIKE YOU BUT THE WAX ONES (QUIES) I CAN GET REALLY THIN AND THEN SORT OF SQUASH THEM IN TO GIVE A GOOD FIT. SHAME I CAN'T GET THEM ON NHS BECAUSE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE SINGLE USE BUT I DO REUSE. HAVE TRANSFORMED LIFE FOR ME ESPECIALLY SHOPPING AND OUT IN THE NOISEY TRAFFIC.

Hi Sange. You could try a screen filter for your computer. You can also go into 'settings' to reduce the brightness of the screen. I have special spectacles from the optician but prefer to use sunglasses and have had less eyestrain and headaches since switching to them.

I keep another pair with me for coping with crowded places ; they do seem to minimise the bustle & mayhem when I'm feeling especially sensitized.

And for listening to music you could try the wax earplugs (Boots sell them) which are very comfy and, used with headphones, are brilliant for screening out the harshness of the sound whilst allowing the melody through. I cut them in half as I think they're obviously intended for giants !

My daughter was working in the Piccadilly Hotel when the IRA bomb went off. She wasn't injured but the blast blew the windows into the building and all staff were evacuated. I nearly died when I heard the news but couldn't contact her.

I'm sorry you were so badly affected by it, and the car injury, but it's good you're here now, amongst people who care. :-)

Regards, Cat x

Hi my daughter is registered sight impaired and our Sight Support organisation helped her by loaning her a pair of orange glasses to fit over her own this stops the sun which affects her eyes. They had various other glasses and equipment to loan or buy.

I would check to see if you have an organisation similar in your area.

GREAT THANK YOU

I HAVE SOME SUNGLASSES DESIGNED TO FIT OVER NORMAL GLASSES OR YOU CAN WEAR THEM WITH ANY EYES. THEY'RE CALLED COCCOONS & HAVE BIT ON THE ARMS TO STOP LIGHT COMING THROUGH THERE & BIT ACCROSS THE THOP OF THE GLASSES THAT TOUCHES THE FOREHEAD. THAT STOPS LIGHT COMING DOWN THERE. .

THEY ARE VERY COMFORTABLE & COME IN A RANGE OF LENS COLOURS & SIZES.

I HAVE REACTOLITE GLASSES BUT THEY DON'T STOP SUNLIGHT FROM COMING ROUND THE TOP & SIDES OF THE GLASSES.

COCCOONS WEREN'T VERY EXPENSIVE & I FOUND THEM ON THE NET. DEFINITELY WORTH A TRY.
