I have individual blood results and symptoms that lead me to believe I may have haemochromatosis . My son was diagnosed with this whilst fight acute myeloid leukaemia unfortunately he passed away last July so I cannot determine the genetic element it didn’t seem important at the time hes was diagnosed with liver biopsy . My question is this presently our doctors are hard pressed so I’d like to pay privately for a genetic test can anyone tell me where to go for this please . Options would be good ..
Thank you

Hi I was diagnosed with hematomacrosis about 3/4 years ago. I had no idea I had it, had no symptoms nothing. I'd gone to see one of my and she requested some more detailed bloods doing. They came bk with that I had genetic haematomchrosis , which meant my son had to be tested, thankfully he's not got it. I was just told to not eat or things that contain iron. I also have to have what's called a venesection which is where about 400ml of blood is taken from me.
Thank you for telling me your story it’s good news your son hasn’t got this condition , I ve sent for genetic testing I really want to get to the bottom of this .
