Sleep aponea

Hi all. I'm a male who was diagnosed with Graves disease nearly 10 years ago. I had radio iodine treatment. In recent years I have developed sleep aponea which seems to be getting worse. Could what's left of my thyroid gland be causing this as it ruining my life. I can't tolerate CPAP, have lost several stone and my thyroid is apparently well controlled on dual therapy eltroxin and liothyronine. I'm exhausted all the time snd often choke at night for periods.

Recommend you post on main thyroid UK Forum.

Always helps to add any recent result with lab range (TSH, FT4 & FT3) & current replacement dose.

Hi Shredder29 I’m sorry that you are feeling so exhausted so often but I often think it is still to do with the thyroid. I’ve had graves for 13 years but I refused the radio iodine. My brother has sleep apnea and I know how he struggles daily. I know it’s not much help but I try and sleep with a few pillows behind me and not flat as it can be scary when you start choking. With you losing so much weight have you changed your diet or are you eating less as you don’t have the energy to cook? I’m just thinking if it is something you are doing as if the weight is just coming off without any changes then you need to go back to either your GP or your specialist. I wish you well as I know how tiring it all gets. Fingers crossed you get the help you need. 👍

I had a burst appendix recently and the weight dropped off

well that would explain the weight loss then, but also why you are exhausted as you are going or have been going through a lot at the minute. Hope you feel a lot better soon.
