Trying to find out about Chocolate Philadelphia-is it gluten free? Can't find out from their website!

They have a contact us section on the UK web page. Send them a note lamcg for uptodate info. Their 'gluten' listing doesn't include this product yet. It's better to get the info direct from them as 'flavourings' can contain gluten.

Philadelphia site says 'that basic Philadelphia does not contain wheat ..'

"5. Does Philadelphia contain gluten?

Philadelphia does not contain gluten but the breadsticks and crackers in our snack range do contain wheat gluten."

I think you may need to write to Philadelphia to get confirmation that it does not contain gluten in the Chocolate cheese as it would depend upon which chocolate source is used.

It might be an idea to purchase the plain and add the gluten free chocolate yourself!

This was raised on the coeliac UK site a while back and someone wrote to the manufacturers to find out. It is classed as GF

As per my earlier response. It's always advisable, if the manufacturer doesn't include this information on their web page or product label, to contact them for confirmation. When we contact manufacturers, re queries on foodstuffs on our Facebook page, we post the response we receive in our Discussions area. We also have links to manufacturers allergens listings in there.

It is likely that this product is gluten free. But I wouldn't recommend you try it on that likelihood! I have seen a gluten free cake recipe (American) in which it's used but you need to remember that there is also a difference between products that are sold here and in the US. Quite often the US version is gluten free but our product contains gluten. Hi I noticed the link for the Cadbury products is for the australian market, I noticed this because it says all dairy milk bars are gluten free, however in the UK this isnt the case, I think i read somewhere it was due to the fact that the bars are made in a factory where they have wheat based products here is the UK website nutrition.cadbury.co.uk/epa...

Thank you for highlighting this tmoxon. We do try to steer people to using links carefully to make sure they are related to the UK, especially where foodstuffs are concerned. Many of the large manufacturers do, as you point out offer a different recipe for different countries and this can mean that the product is gluten free in one area but not in another.

I've just been on the UK website...Ingredients:

Medium fat soft cheese 56%, sugar, cocoa mass, fat-reduced cocoa powder, cocoa butter, skimmed milk powder, whey powder, vegetable fat, milk fat, stabilizers (locust bean gum, carrageenan), emulsifiers (soyalecithin, E 442), flavourings, citric acid.

CONTAINS MILK, SOYA.

If there was any possibility of gluten being present then with UK labelling laws it would have to be stated. There is no mention of being produced in a factory that handles gluten either.

I would say that both the large tub and the mini tubs are absolutely fine...I wouldn't touch the snackpot one anyway because it contains biscuits!

We also viewed the webpage before responding and noted the ingredients but still affirm that when there is any doubt it is best to contact the manufacturer.

We know that very few of the Cadbury products are gluten free. On a personal level we would want the manufacturers reassurance that this product is fine to eat. Web pages are not, as we have found many times, always accurate or uptodate.

Actually there are a lot of Cadbury products that are gluten free and where there is any question Cadbury state that a product has been produced in a factory or on a line that also handles gluten. Uk labelling laws now categorically state that any ingredient that contains gluten must be on the label. Also, as I commented earlier, a couple of months ago, a person on the coeliac UK page contacted the manufacturer and let us all know that this product is safe. If you have a personal problem with anything I put on here Irene, I suggest you send me a personal email.....it does appear that anything I put on here you have to contradict.

Kraft got back to me super quick. Here's their confirmation that the large and small tubs of Philadelphia with Cadbury Chocolate are gluten free:
