Don't forget to add your comments to the eating out poll. Without your input we can't write to restaurants demanding more choice or better labelling of gf items without your input. Tell us what would encourage you to eat out more. Where do you find is the best?

I would eat out more if gluton free foods were offered on the menu instead of asking , if each meal i fancied was ok.

I have to ask loads of questions before i can order. Are the chips cooked in the same fat as the battered fish ? is the gravy gluton free etc.

Eating out is supposed to be a pleasure but lack of labels on menus and lack of understanding take out all the fun so I would rather spend my money on things that are still fun.If I do go out, I want to know what is safe without asking lots of questions. Things that should be OK but are not are a pet hate like "diet" dressings yuk! Not helped by people thinking it is some faddy diet. Good quality indian and thai are the only ones I go to.

There is always a higher risk in eating out than when cooking for yourself. Even after you've gone through the pain of explaining coeliac to staff in a restaurant and they tell you they understand what you've told them they still ask silly questions like " are eggs okay then?", or nuts... or meat, showing they haven't understood at all.

Even if they say they understand and serve you a meal you don't get to see it being prepared, so you don't know if they fried your food in the same pan as something with breadcrumbs for instance.

The only 'good' places to eat out must be where ALL of the staff undergo some training and have a knowledge of gluten and coeliac.

I can only think of three places. Brown's Fish and Chips in Poole, Nando's, and my barbeque - tiki hut - bar - down my garden!

I've just got back from an all inclusive holiday in Cuba (coincidentally home of the most famous Guerilla, Ernesto 'Che' Guevarra) and could write a book about my dining experiences there, both good and bad, if anyone is interested.
