Until recently it didn't even occur to me that glutinous ingredients might make it into none food items.
As of last night, I started to contact the companies who make products that you wouldn't think you would need to worry about to see what I'm inadvertently eating/putting on my skin.

It needs to be remembered that gluten needs to be ingested and not absorbed to be a problem. So toothpaste can be a problem but not so hair shampoo to the same extent.
However, for those of us with Dermatitis Herpetiformis it does indeed matter if there are wheat products in items that go on skin! I certainly ensure that all shampoo, conditioner, moisturiser, shower gel, soap, toothpaste etc are free from wheat products.
Hi Annie, I read every single ingredients label on any products I buy! I tend to use Sensodyne for my teeth and Herbal Essences for my hair. For shower gels/ soap - any product that doesn't have wheat or other gluten derivatives listed. So far I've not yet seen anything labelled as 'gluten free' ... maybe someone else has seen that? Hope this helps! If you are into Body Shop products I think some of them are 'safe' - but I don't use them myself so I can't tell you from experience. Take care,
I used to get a migraine every time I got a haircut - their shampoos all had wheat in. Now I am very careful and don't buy any cosmetics/toiletries without checking carefully - and I never lick envelopes! And, my haridresser gives me a 'dry cut' (just sprays with water) and no migraines to go with my tidy hair.
