Until recently it didn't even occur to me that glutinous ingredients might make it into none food items.

As of last night, I started to contact the companies who make products that you wouldn't think you would need to worry about to see what I'm inadvertently eating/putting on my skin.

Hi, I found this list of Neutrogena gluten free products on Celiac.com - it's a US site so I'm not sure if all products are available in the UK ..

It needs to be remembered that gluten needs to be ingested and not absorbed to be a problem. So toothpaste can be a problem but not so hair shampoo to the same extent.

However, for those of us with Dermatitis Herpetiformis it does indeed matter if there are wheat products in items that go on skin! I certainly ensure that all shampoo, conditioner, moisturiser, shower gel, soap, toothpaste etc are free from wheat products.

Hi lexy,

I would be interested to know what products you use, and does it say on the bottles that products are gf?

I have dh issues along with AI thyroidism.

My gf diet is coming along but I never thought about what i'm putting on my body/face.

Hi Annie, I read every single ingredients label on any products I buy! I tend to use Sensodyne for my teeth and Herbal Essences for my hair. For shower gels/ soap - any product that doesn't have wheat or other gluten derivatives listed. So far I've not yet seen anything labelled as 'gluten free' ... maybe someone else has seen that? Hope this helps! If you are into Body Shop products I think some of them are 'safe' - but I don't use them myself so I can't tell you from experience. Take care,

I used to get a migraine every time I got a haircut - their shampoos all had wheat in. Now I am very careful and don't buy any cosmetics/toiletries without checking carefully - and I never lick envelopes! And, my haridresser gives me a 'dry cut' (just sprays with water) and no migraines to go with my tidy hair.

I react to wheat in shampoos, not in a coeliac way, but I get a really itchy scalp. I take my own shampoo & conditioner to the hairdressers!

All Mac, Clinic and Benefit lipsticks are GF.

My apologies of course to dh,s out there. Not being one I tend to forget. Sorry
