Why have they discontinued the DS white cake mix and can anyone recommend a good alternative?

I have to say that I buy Doves Farm for baking it works really well, --if you have Tesco and Asda and Sainsbury available check their prices as Asda and Sainsbury are a full 20pence dearer than Tesco at the moment. I want to know why all the frozen pastry has gone, I have tried and tried to make pastry and failed, found GF frozen and now the shops do not appear to stock it ---I rang DS and the nearest place to Plymouth that stocks it is 50 miles away !!!!

hi i have been buying my gf frozen pastry from sainsburys if you have one near you it might be worth having a look .

I'd agree that the Doves Farm flour is great for baking, I use it all the time. Even if I use self raising flour I always add a bit of extra GF Baking powder.

I don't know what the DS Cake mix is/was. Was it a prepared cake mix with everything in or just flour for cakes?

Doves Farm is one of the best and I made a brilliant large sponge cake for my daughters 40th birthday iced it and everyone was stunned at how lovely, light and tasty it was. The whole thing went within 2 hours of being cut. Try it you will be pleased.

Morrisons' own Free From vanilla sponge mix is great if you don't have baking stuff at home but I full heartedly agree with using Dove's self raising flour, it's brilliant.

You could always just use the DS white mix which is the same thing without the baking powder.

ive used the glutafin multi purpose white mix and have made some lovely sponges the mixture is slightly different from cake mix but is just as good.
