Hi, My son finally had his endoscopy yesterday. The paperwork he had from the consultant said everything looked normal but have to wait for 4 biopsies which is going to take approx 4 weeks. They took repeat bloods. His Ttg level was 57 when he had his last ones in July and had b12 deficiency. My question is had anyone been diagnosed with coeliac disease with everything looking normal? He is only 17. Thanks

I've seen other posts raise the same question, but then not come back and up-date. From what I've read TTG seems pretty specific for Coeliac......esp when x10 over range. Biopsies are not always conclusive either.

17 is a particularly difficult age to be landed with the restrictions this brings - I feel for you as a mum.

Have you been advised that he should be GF now until biopsy result?

My biopsy results came back normal but have been deemed inconclusive, due to following a semi gluten free diet before (doctor didn’t tell me I needed to eat gluten consistently for six weeks prior). Was your son eating gluten before?

However my GP has said my blood results are consistent with coeliac and had diagnosed my with coeliac on that basis (TGG was 108).

I’ve still been referred to a dietician and it’s been suggested that I should have another biopsy. I have refused on the basis that I know what gluten does to me and so I don’t want to put my body through that again, just for a doctor to label it coeliac.

I’m feeling a bit better since being completely gluten free (it’s only been a week so far). But deflated over adjusting to it. Shops don’t seem to cater a whole lot to coeliac either. How’re you?

I've been GF since the beginning of Dec - most days my gut feels better than it did. I still don't have any energy though which I'm finding difficult. I need to learn patience. Looking forward to summer and salads rather than toasting GF bread to make a sandwich for lunch. I used to go to my local baker every morning for a coffee and a warm almond croissant every day - now have a slice of genius fruit bread and some fruit - so it is healthier .😊
