Returning to gluten 😫

Hi, I am new to this forum. I have just started back on gluten, having been about 90% gluten free for past 3years on order to get tested for celiac. Is there any advice on how to manage symptoms - I am trying to stick to low fodmap.

Also, is it worth considering genetic testing instead and if so, where in UK is best/trusted?

Thanks

I don't think genetic testing is worth it - 39% of the population has the coeliac gene, but still only 1% go on to develop it. Given the low proportions of people who develop the disease, compared to those with the potential to, I don't think it tells you anything meaningful.

I love tea made of meadowsweet.

Meadowsweet (and willow? ) naturally contains similar substance that they use in painkillers. This makes the headache and jointpain a bit more manageable while drinking plenty of warm liquid at the same time.

Peppermint tea some recommend if stomachache and gassy.

If you have diarrhea, some recommend active coal.

If constipated, lots of fruit, vegetables and beans.

And b-vitamine, zinc and perhaps iron and other vitamins and minerals. (Especially if you have brainfog or neuropathy, then you can try to multiply your intake of b9 and b12. There's no known side effects, and b12 is even used to clear the body from cyanide poisoning in emergency situations. In some countries it's injected to manage pain too)

Sourdough some say is easier to eat.

Sleep a lot. Drink a lot. Walk a lot.

Good luck

Hello I too had to resume gluten to get diagnosed so I understand your concern. There is no easy way to do this that's why it's called the "gluten challenge". But it is possible and then you know for sure and get the follow up care. Be brave 🥰

90% gluten free is NOT GF! It is all or nothing basically. You will still have antibodies in your system if coeliac.

It will reduce the symptoms of IBS to some extent, however.
