Hi I have coeliacs disease my son has had symptoms and needs a gastrocopy for a different issue should I ask them to test for coeliacs as his blood test last year was negetive and he does react to gluten his fifteen and has autism and schizophrenia as well

Definitely, ask for a test! There is a genetical link as well as symptoms. Autism is associated with Celiac's and hypo's mums.
Even if the tests came back negative, he needs to be on a gluten-free diet as often Celiac's is not confirmed until it is full blown and intestinal villi have been wiped out. This may take 15-20 years in certain cases.
I hope they do😊 i asked this prior to my endoscopy(for a different issue) and they said no because it has to be referred by a gp on a seperate referral and the fact that being it is a biopsy a consultant would need to do it as normal endoscopies or gastros are usually nurse led-so i ended up having bloody 2 procedures-could have saved nhs some cash there.
