A few weeks ago I just discovered that my long standing under active thyroid condition might be connected to my similarly long standing gut issues, and both might be connected to what I believe is a an old and recurring yeast infection. I've dropped gluten and sugar and am now taking some basic supplements. My thyroid function has already increased significantly, I can hardly believe it. I feel better than I have in many years.
I'm another one.: A few weeks ago I... - Gluten Free Guerr...
I'm another one.
Well done sorting that out. I wish I could 'improve' my thyroid enough to lessen my M.E.!
Is yours overactive? do you have a low gluten diet?
No, I'm underactive and I've been GF for about 2 years now.
My underactive was diagnosed about 27 years ago, I've been on 200 mcg since, reduced to 150 about 6 months ago, then suddenly, following the GF I needed to reduce to 75. I've also cut out sugar and made one or two dietary adjustments too. If you want to know more I'll gladly tell.I'm sure its the diet.
Thanks satch49 I've been paleo for ages then tried AIP and am thinking of going keto since I've got Dr Myhill's PK cookbook. Altho I feel a bit better (digestive-ly) nothing has made any difference for my fatigue! Seeing a Naturopath ATM.
yay, gluten and sugar avoidance is my regime and I'm singing the same song. Better joints, better guts and better brain! Woo hoo
Wow, same story. Are you doing anything else?
how interesting, a nutritionist last week suggested I see my GP re maybe under active thyroid as I now have difficulty losing weight, I have been gluten free since 1998 for coeliac disease, Lately though have been craving Carbs and gluten free breads are higher in calories than other breads, your posts are encouraging me to be more vigilant, I know sugar saps my energy....
I have found that removing (so far as is convenient) refined sugars from my diet has been very successful. Well worth trying.
