Cough mixture

I have been coughing every night for the past couple of weeks. So I bought some cough mixture.... Allens pine and honey syrup.Recently I have been feeling quite poorly with pain and bloating in my abdomen and nausea. Has anyone else had trouble with this stuff ? It does have some liquorice liquid in it.I can't take Jakemans throat sweets either !

liquorice is not gluten free. ☹ could be why this is happening.

sorry should have said liquorice root is GF but not some processed liquorice, often wheat is used! I suppose it depends on how they processed it for the cough medicine. I stick with good old lemon & honey drink freshly made 🙂 yummy!

The cough mixture is described as gluten free, so I would suspect that you are having problems with one of the ingredients, or perhaps you have had too much of it. If you google it, you will find that both the squill and ipecacuanha can cause nausea in susceptible people.
