Has anyone ever tried the Gluten Free range of Pizza from Pizza Express?
Pizza!: Has anyone ever tried the... - Gluten Free Guerr...
Pizza!
Most of the gluten free pizza I've tried, not specifically pizza express, is like a very thin crust pizza that tends to get overlooked and can be rock hard.
I have to avoid the cheese on the pizza so it's pretty much tomato sauce, all the meats and veggies.
When they first launched the bases were outsourced and they were lovely. The gf ventute was a success so PE decided to trial their own bases and despite very negative feedback in store and on forums they rolled them out?! They are inedible so, on the rare occasions we go to PE (Zizzi much better), we have resorted to taking our own base and paying for toppings!
Not surprising at all, it's common sense that since they have the facility to prepare gf and they can charge for extra toppings anyway it's makes good business sense and good customer service to accommodate and get the sale. If they lose the gf customer they lose the party. Lots of places who have gf offerings will do this. Eg Frankie and bennys have a gf burger they are more than happy for you to supply the bun. Privately owned even better - if you book in advance our local Italian asks which gf bread / pasta you prefer and they go out and buy it! My motto if you don't ask you don't get! if you don't fancy supplying own I personally think ASK or Zizzi are a better option.😃

The first Pizza Express GF I had a couple of years ago was horrible, like stale sweetened cardboard, very chewy. But recently they have improved & last time the one I had almost resembled a 'normal' pizza.
I had trouble with GF pancakes at a holiday venue (unconnected to PE) - was really excited I could join in with the meals, but they undercooked them each time despite requests for longer cooking, & they were raw, pale & sloppy.
Yes. It's a fail. Cardboardy, thin, so dry and hard on the edges it's a challenge to your dentition, and a slimy soggy middle. Toppings don't adhere well.
They used to have a brilliant GF base and then brought it in house for brand integrity reasons or somesuch twaddle resulting in today's borderline inedible object.
I used to be a twice a week Pizza Express customer (work travel) but now I almost never go there.
Where is the place?
Personally, the best 'chain restaurant' GF pizza i have found, is Bella Italia.... in fact mine was so good, i didn't believe it was a GF version , got very stressed and spoke to the chef etc, but yes it was Yummy
lol that's funny, that's what I would be like! gluten free pain sucks real bad!
Yes. They are pretty good as are the ones from Prezzo. Bit crispy but I like that.
I have g/f pizzas from Pizza Hut, and my niece (who has no health issues) prefers the g/f pizza to the normal ones...
I find Dominos (In Canada) to have a wonderful GF pizza crust... It's light and tasty... Panago has a decent one as well... And a smaller company called "Megabite' has the best, imo.... It's very light and fluffy, almost unheard of in the GF world..
