Rectal challenge instead of endoscopy... which UK hospital offers it?

My GP wants to know and asked me if I can find out. All we've managed to find between us online is historical info from the 1990s, but I'm sure one of the speakers at the Gluten Free Summit mentioned it as a current practice. Anyone know, please?

I think it was Dr Marsh that talked about it on the Gluten Summit. It's not a standard diagnostic procedure and I don't think it's used in current practice. Dr Marsh had a special interest in this being developed as a test, but I don't think it ever was (although it takes so long for good research to make it into mainstream practice.)

This link shows that they were studying it as a possible diagnostic method at Hope Hospital in Salford in 2001. That's the most recent study that I could find.

You could try contacting one of the authors on the paper to see what's happened since then.

Thanks both of you - I will do as you suggest and contact the study authors.

Can you post back on the forum if you find anything out? I'm curious too!

I certainly will! I've had an out of office reply to my email to Prof C, which is good because it confirms his email address is correct. Will update the forum if I hear anything.
