Had you ever heard of Coeliac Disease... - Gluten Free Guerr...
Had you ever heard of Coeliac Disease before you were diagnosed and if so how?
If you mean the second time I was diagnosed then yes, I was diagnosed the first time thats how I got to know about it and started my diet before endoscopy and was much more healthier then than having prescription foods and being misled by the term "Gluten Free".
In terms of the first time Tony had you ever heard of it before?
I was only 6 at the time and in Hong Kong
Uh huh - that lets you off a bit! We're curious if anyone else knew of it before diagnosis or knew anyone else that had it etc. Awareness of CD still seems pretty small to us..
Prior to my second diagnosis I worked as a Primary school caretaker and out of about 400 children there was only one known coeliac child at the school.
I went out for dinner with someone who is Coeliac only a few months before I was diagnosed. My friends and I were all fairly keen to know why she was quizzing the waiter but lost interest when she said she couldn't drink red wine... that was an allergy but still!!!
After I was diagnosed she told me a charming story about being given the wrong muffin at a cafe and losing control from both ends when she got home. Her teenage son had to call in two friends to help. Cute!
