Hi Ppmoorman65,
Welcome to the group.
I was diagnosed with my grade 4 GBM in May 2010.
From my experience, gentle exercise is the best way to start, after your treatment has finished. When I was first diagnosed, had my operation, etc., fitness was my main concern as I had a good level of fitness prior to becoming ill. However, it is important to allow your body and brain time to recover from the surgery and treatment.
If you have a look at some of my previous posts, you will find advice which you will hopefully find useful.
Diet is also important, so maintain a health one; include pecan nuts, blueberries and turmeric spice, which have anti-cancer properties. Cut out all unnecessary sugar, which feeds cancer cells.
Also, keep your brain active, this was one of my priorities from the moment I was admitted to hospital on the day I became ill.
I use the The Brain Tumour Charity's BRIAN APP on a daily basis and have it linked to my Fitbit for maintaining a record of my fitness levels, etc. BRIAN also has a number of challenges you can complete, which are linked to trials.
Most of all, stay positive and see your diagnosis as an opportunity for change, to take your life in a new direction. Also laugh as much as possible, which after all, is a great healer.
If you have any questions, please leave a post and I will reply.
Stay safe, warm and enjoy life. Remember that all life is terminal from the moment it is created. 🙂
I would echo Tansi75. Take it easy at the start - listen to your brain and don't over-do it especially while you're on radio and chemo. But work towards your normal level of exercise. Diet is important. I have cut out wheat, milk and follow a mainly vegetarian diet apart from occasional fish such as salmon. There's no one size fits all. I've managed to retain my level of fitness and overall health and now feel in excellent health. Most importantly, stay positive. Good luck.
