GBM and Keto Diet - Urgent

My brother was diagnosed with GBM (grade IV) in May 2023. I wonder, please, if any of you know about the Keto Diet and how effective it might be in treating GBM. He has had CV (Awake Craniotomy), followed by chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Thank you

Hi Hermanito,

Sorry to read about your brother. I was diagnosed with a grade 4 GBM in May 2010 and had a second tumour removed in Feb 2015. Whilst I don't know anything about the Keto Diet, I do know from my experience that diet is important. He should include blueberries, pecan nuts and turmeric spice, which have anti-cancer properties, in his diet and cut out all unnecessary sugar, which feeds cancer cells. If he has been told by Health Care Professionals, that he can eat anything he likes, he should ignore it and maintain a healthy diet using fresh meat, fish, fruit, veg, etc.

If he downloads the Brain Tumour Charities BRIAN APP, he will find various postings I have placed on the Brian App discussion board, which cover the diet I have followed, the alternative anti-cancer treatments I use on a daily basis, and the supplements I have taken since 2010.

The most important thing he can do is to stay positive and think of his current situation as an opportunity to take his life in a new direction. A grade 4 diagnosis can mean 'change of life' not 'end of life'. Take each day one at a time and enjoy life as much as possible, with plenty of laughter.

If you have any questions about my experience, please do leave a message either via this website or the Brian App and I will get back to you.

I wish you both the very best for a positive, healthy and great Christmas and New Year.

I’ve been investigating this as well .. Because of my situation.I had an emergency craniotomy (October 23) & then diagnosed Stage 4 GBM post-biopsy Nov. Currently undergoing standard radiation/chemo but starting reading up on it more.

This guy on YouTube did strict Keto 3 years after standard treatment - surgery etc then switched more carnivore .. Still alive & thriving today - I think 8 years post diagnosis . There’s also another research paper which came out - on ‘The Metabolic Therapy’ process - Maybe google and see what comes up?

I def think for me diet will be key off what I’ve read - plus it’s something I actually have control over... Praying for your brother for full remission & recovery &total healing. Remember anything is possible & your brother needs people to believe he can not just survive but thrive despite this.

Obv I am not a Doctor -or professional health advisor -just someone looking at ways to live my own life to my utmost using whatever resources are available.

All the best.

ps> I m also reading ‘The Rainbow Diet’ by Chris Woolams which is basically what Tansi said - fresh meat/fish .. diff colours of vegetables in particular blueberries / berries etc. He also mentions sugar is needed for the health of regular cells too but fructose through grapes etc hit different than processed sugar etc

Hi Hermanito. I am so sorry to hear about your brother's diagnosis. Yes Pablo Kelly is a really inspirational guy. You can find him here

He also is available for a chat if you need his advice. A service which he charges a fee for but might be well worth it. I would also search out Thomas Siegfried and look at his research into the effectiveness of keto for controlling GBM growth.

CancerVme on YouTube is a place where cancer thrivers tell their stories about recovery from terminal cancers using holistic approaches and diet. There are GBM stories thrre too and they do keto.. They are advocates of the metabolic approach to fighting cancer and their stories are inspirational.

These are the sources of information that I wished I'd had when my husband was diagnosed with GBM. He's still doing great after 2.5years. he also uses distilled water and doesn't drink tap water anymore. We bought a water distiller for this. This is what we bought and I believe is a really important step in the healing journey as well.

Hope this is helpful,

Hi

I was diagnosed with Glioblastoma MF in August 2021. I had the usual debulking op followed by radio and chemo therapies ( the usual treatments I think).

After 6 months I decided to change to a very low carb diet ( I doubt I’m truly Keto 🤣) as it contains all the foods I like anyway and I read so many times that brain tumours thrive on carbs. I have scans every 6 months and all have shown no change.

Fingers crossed for us both 👍
