My 31 year old nephew was diagnosed with incurable aggressive grade 4 GBM in December. His symptoms were stroke like until the scan revealed the worst. They went in and removed 90% of the tumour and has some radiotherapy although during the op he took a stoke which left him without the use of his right arm and leg and also aphasia. It is so hard to watch someone so young go through this. We are currently awaiting the next scan so find out the outcome of treatment but are desperately looking for other treatments if this hasn’t been successful

grade 4 GBM
Hi He-len,
Sorry to read about your nephew, I was diagnosed with a grade 4 GBM in May 2010, there are things your nephew can do to fight this disease. If you and your nephew go to the Brain Tumour Charity website and sign up to the BRIAN APP, you will find a lot of useful information and be able to see the various posts I have placed on the discussion board, which you might find useful.
Firstly, it is important that you, you nephew and his family stay positive, take one day at a time and one step at a time and believe that he can get through this with a positive outcome.
Do not waste time and energy reading up on the outcomes of people diagnosed with such a tumour. Everyone's experience of a brain tumour is unique and individual. Instead, concentrate on living, looking ahead and enjoying life as much as you can. Most of all laugh as much as you can; laughter is a great healer.
There are some things he can do in the mean time,
i. Change of diet, cut out all unnecessary sugar, which feeds cancer cells; most importantly cut out alcohol due to the high sugar content.
ii. Include the following in his diet - blueberries, pecan nuts and turmeric which have anti-cancer properties in them.
iii. Boost his immune system by taking food supplements - I have been taking Higher Natures Immune+ tablets, which are designed to do this, since 2010.
If you have any questions based on the above or anything I have posted on this site or BRIAN, please do place a post on here or BRIAN and I will reply.
Wishing you all the very best in these difficult times, I know it's not easy, but being positive and looking ahead will help you all move forward together. If it worked for me and it can work for yourselves too. 😊
my husband had a similar outcome, he had post op seizure and bleed leading to right side paralysis. They won’t put him forward for radiotherapy or chemo due to his immobility. How did you nephew get treatment if he has some mobility problems, did they say anything about this being withdrawn?
