I asked the doctor to use a non steroidal instead as an antiinflammatory.
I had my first lens replacement (for cataract) 2 weeks ago. I was given antibiotic drops & steroid drops to use after the op. I am having the other eye done in about a week’s time. A few week after that, I will have my follow up consultation, so I will report back. My pressures before the op were 10, bilaterally. I am still following my normal glaucoma regime (Azarga twice daily, Bimatoprost once daily).
Thankyou
Update: I had my second cataract op just over a week ago. After the first , on NHS, I was given 2 separate drops, one an antibiotic (chloramphenicol), the other a steroid (dexamethasone) to be used 4 times a day, still continuing with my glaucoma regime. I had my 2nd op privately & was given one combined formulation drop (tobradex: tobramycin & dexamethasone) which was obviously much easier! I had my follow up yesterday & my surgeon said any increase in pressure due to steroid drops, would be temporary & revert as soon as the drops were finished. However, I have been very lucky as my pressures are still 10, bilaterally.
I’m also a steroid responder. Had lens extraction surgery 5 years apart on both eyes. My consultant prescribed a short course of diamox to counteract any spikes after surgery while using the steroids.
The anti-inflammatory used was Ketorolac.
