I’m just over three months post trab and I’ve noticed that light sensitivity is still a problem. When I had my last check up it took the doctor seven attempts to get the pressure as the light hurt my eye . In previous checkups it didn’t hurt my eye but the light from the lamp made my eye hurt. Today I walked home from the gym and car headlights hurt my eyes so much I had cover my eyes . Has anyone else had this issue

sensitive eyes
Hello Angel5454,
I have had eye surgery three times, two Preserflo shunts and one recent vitrectomy. It seems fairly common for glaucoma patients to dislike glare, but as you have found it does seem worse after surgery . In my experience it is easier to tolerate after several weeks post op, or perhaps I have just got used to it.
Some people use sunglasses and there are some special ones that are not so dark ( I think the RNIB sell them ) . I bought a pair from a sports shop which can be useful but still tend to block out too much light.
A cotton sun visor( as used by tennis players )or a peaked hat or cap are useful. The visor is easy to put in a bag or pocket and when it is cold I put a woolly hat on top ,a new fashion trend ! The low winter sun is probably the most difficult for me.
Some supermarkets are very bright and dazzle so I often wear the visor when shopping.
Do hope you find something to help and things gradually improve .
Best wishes
I’ve been wearing yellow lenses as they are for low light times .Before my trab surgery I was quite sensitive to light but since my surgery even looking into the slit lamp on my checkups had been worse than before. This surgery and the recovery are not the easiest but hopefully with time my eye will settle. I don’t think I had this many ups and downs after my detached retina surgery. Thankyou for your kind words and suggestions 💖💖
