Thank you Muddleme, I had meant to listen to that. I haven't actually listened to a glaucoma webinar yet, I really must do it.I will try to find the repeat on the glaucoma website.
I thought it was really informative too and I learnt so much ….
I’ve just heard that I’m having my 1st trabulectomy next week… was booked in urgently after my last consultation but so surprised to actually receive a booking in 4 weeks! Obviously I am so scared and anxious and would appreciate some positive experiences and advice pkease if possible!!
I’m tempted not to go through with it but know that really is no alternative.
I remember also feeling a bit like you when I was advised to have eye surgery, luckily there are' buddys' who are people who have previosly had surgery themselves who can listen to your concerns and give you some ideas about what they found helpful. I was lucky enough to have a buddy a few years ago and it made such a difference.
If you are interested then phone the Glaucoma helpline;01233 648 170.
There are many interesting previous Webinars on the Glaucoma UK website , always very helpful and some explain surgery. I believe Glaucoma UK also supply leaflets about surgery which can be downloaded or sent to you.
Most people say they are surprised by how straight forward the operation seems and wonder why they were worried.
Personally I am always very grateful to the surgeons and staff who are kind and helpful and I have had two Glaucoma shunts implanted plus recent retinal surgery, so far all successful !
One thing to remember is to check you have a 24 hr contact number post op....very reassuring.
