After waiting 18 months for a checkup instead of the year it said on my medical papers I finally got a hospital appointment, I have POAG and the timalol and latanaprost combination drop once a day in the morning wasn't hacking it anymore and my eye pressures were back up to 26 each eye.I now have to take Cosopt twice a day and also latanaprost at night does anyone have any experience of this combo and whether it works and how long will this work for etc etc

Hello, My consultant recently changed my drops so that I am now using Cosopt twice daily, which stings like hell even though it is preservative free and Monopost once daily, in the evenings as I read it is better used later in the day. I haven’t seen the consultant for about two months, but have an appointment this coming Thursday, so hopefully this new combination is working to keep my pressures down! I think Monopost is the preservative version of Latanoprost. Regards, Gill

Thanks for your reply, yes it appears we are on the same regime so fingers crossed that it will keep our pressures down for a while going forward!

I’ve been using Cosopt (preservative free sachets) twice a day and Monopost (single dose sachets) at night for about 10 years. I’m pleased to say that this regime has kept my eye pressure fairly stable (I think in the early years it was around 14 and now is around 16).

My Moorfields Consultant described the Cosopt/Monopost regime as being maximal eyedrops. I had been on Cosopt/Lumigan but the Lumigan gave me horribly dark skin around my eyes. That is still there with Cosopt but not as bad. Prior to that I was on various different eyedrops and combinations but none kept my eye pressure stable.

Cosopt stings if my eyes are dry if my eyes are dry but most of the time feels okay. I’m also prescribed Hyabak for dry eyes but don’t need to use this every day.

Thanks for your reply, luckily no further damage to my optic nerves was caused by the eight months delay in appointments my eye pressures of 26 can't in theory have been going on for too long!I'm on day three of using the new drop regime and so far so good no reactions etc.

I'm due to visit the eye hospital in eight weeks to check my pressures again but I will also probably go to the opticians in four weeks to get an earlier checkup for peace of mind
