Has anyone had a stent fitted at the same time as the removal of a cataract? How did it go? Would you recommend having both done at the same time?

stent and cataract removal
Hi there. We quite often speak to people on the Glaucoma UK helpline who have this surgery. Both cataract surgery and eye stents can have an IOP lowering effect. It is safe and convenient to combine the two surgeries. There is some good information on this page which I recommend reading - aao.org/eye-health/treatmen.... Have a read of the 'Cataract surgery and MIGS' paragraph.
I had stents and IOLs (permanent plastic lenses) fitted last year, I now realise that I should have had it done years ago. Level of pain was minimal during the op, the initial after-care was inconvenient but was explained thoroughly immediately after the operation, with a written explanation to take away.
Take very good sunglasses for the passenger ride home ! I used welder's goggles
I had it done - one eye then a month or so later the other. The Cataract removal first - local anaesthetic only and not painful - took about half an hour stariing at the bright light - then the stents put in another ten to 15 mins max. Not painful but some pressure needed to push them well in. Works well aned worth having done. Can't drive of course until both eyes done and can see properly again.
Thanks everyone for your comments
