Hi Lizzyanne567. Yes, that is so disappointing and upsetting for you but don't despair as they will get your eye pressures down. This may mean a change to a different type of drop, laser or cataract/clear lens operation.

Check that you haven't forgotten to do your drops at any time and that you are sure that the drop is going into your eyes. You may already be closing off your tear duct for 1-2 minutes after the drop has gone in, if not it would be a good thing to do. This is done by closing the eye gently after the drop has gone in and gently pressing the corner of your eye next to your nose.

Discuss the reasons why this has happened with your eye specialist next Friday and what treatment they feel would be best for you, to lower your eye pressure. If there are a couple of things they suggest, do also discuss the benefits and complications of these treatments, so you can decide which would be best for you.

Hi Lizzyanne, I was referred to Glaucoma Clinic, by my Opticians, the consultant said I didn't have Glaucoma but was at risk so I was told I needed Iridotomy in both eyes, I had full visual fields and don't present high pressure and wasn't given any drops to use. After my first Iridotomy the Pressure in my right eye went up to 65 ! I went to eye casualty the eye was lasered again to lower the pressure. The Dr wanted me to see another Consultant which I did a couple of days later... to be told that I already had Glaucoma Narrow Angle Closure and I needed Cataract Surgery both eyes within a few weeks. . My pressures are always below 14 /15. Was put on another eye drop But for the consultants that is not enough for me, last time was 10 /11 still not enough now awaiting Trabeculectomy, We are all different and I feel there is not enough information out there, and there is not enough time for Dr's to explain everything to understand what is going on.

Yes you are right I've learnt more from this site than from consultant. My eye pressure had been between 19 & 21 for more than 30years which I was told was fine for me,then last year at my yearly eye check it went up to 29 in both eyes,I had iridotomy about 3 weeks later pressure did come down but not enough, when I went on Tuesday it was 21 in left eye but up to 29 in right eye again
