Hello FM04, As a general rule please do not use computer (including using smart phone screen) too much after the Trabeculectomy , Be sensible. With best wishes.

hi there. I’ve just had my trab and will be going back to work next week. I have an appointment with occupational health tomorrow so I will see what they say as my work involves being on screen all day. I’m wondering about asking for a polarising filter to reduce glare. Also, anything that happens to your eyes changes your vision in some way. After my angle closure I needed a new prescription. I assume you’ve had your vision reviewed since?

Hello.

Many people use their computer after they have undergone a Trabeculectomy, and it won't affect the healing process.

But your vision may be affected after a trab , so the headaches may be caused by eye strain. You will probably need to visit your optometrist after the recovery period to have your prescription checked, as it may have changed,

If you really need to use the computer, make sure you take regular breaks to rest your eyes.

If your eyes start to feel tired, have a comfort break, and remember to blink.

You can also do the 20-20-20 routine, where every 20 minutes, look at something 20 metres away for 20 seconds.

You can also adjust the contrast/brightness on your computer which may also help. You can also buy antiglare screens.

Any concerns you may have, please contact your consultant.
