Wearing mascara

Hi

Would it be safe to wear mascara after both eyes have had the Preserflo op. Right eye was about 2 months ago and left eye just over 3 weeks?

Hi Flowergirl I've not had a Preserflo op but have had trabs and cataract ops in both eyes and I assume the basic principle of what you can and can't do post op is the same. I was told after both ops not to wear any eye makeup for 4 weeks as there is obviously a risk of infection. I was also advised to buy new eye make up and not anything used pre op. I always replace my mascara every 3 months and didn't actually wear mascara for 6 weeks post op as I erred on the side of caution. Hope this helps a bit . Good luck with your recovery .

Hi Witchy

I was wishful thinking last night. I'm not going to take the risk. Am off out for the first time in a while to a party on Friday and it would off been nice to wear eye makeup! Besides I'm having my stitches taken out next week so yes, I should hold off.

I think that is a wise decision especially as you still haven't had your stitches out. My birthday was 4 weeks after my first cataract op and I remember wanting to wear eye make up too as I had lunches organised with friends and family but caution won the day. 😃

Hi Flowergirl24

I have had the microshunt op and as Witchie346 says there is a risk of infection which can potentially be very serious, so personally I would refrain from using make up at least while still using the steroid eye drops.

Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Thank you Toby. As replied to Witchie, it was wishful thinking. I hope your Microshunt has gone well. It's been over two months since my right eye which touch wood is going well. I'm having my stitches out next week on the left eye. Last count, right eye pressure was 9 and left eye 8. Stay well!

That's great news Flowergirl🙂

Enjoy you're party and let me know what's it like having the stiches taken out - mine are still in!

Thank you! They numbed the eye with a spray anaesthetic and just snipped them out. It didn’t hurt or feel a thing just heard a few snips and if was all over.

Hi Flowergirl I have had both a presser flow and trab and my consultant gave me the all clear to wear eye makeup at my two week appointment , which was great as I love my makeup 😊 I was due to have my other eye done with presser flow last week but due to staff sickness it was cancelled at the eleventh hour , I’m rescheduled for 18th August so fingers crossed I’m hoping to be drop free. ps now it’s so sunny you can hide behind sunglasses till you get back to mascara 😎
