Hello Totthi. You can either keep your drops in a cooler part of your house or keep them in the door of the fridge, where the fridge isn't so cold. This is a good idea when the weather does get hot.I hope this is helpful to you.
Hello Totthi, I put my eye drops in the fridge. Please make a proper space for them. The eye drops are important part of our life. with best wishes.
Hello balacakkhu, thank you for your advice, but I still wonder, mine are stated : Store under 25C but didn't say they can be refrigerated, so I don't know if they are safe to be in the fridge?
Hello Totthi, As general they do not need to be kept in the fridge. Most of the eye drops should be kept under 25°C and some should be kept in the fridge specifically. The fridge temperature is usually about 5 to 8° C. The glaucoma eye drops should be kept as cool as possible because they may breakdown or degrade if they get too warm or are kept too long at room temperature. I think it is safe to be in the fridge. You can double check with the pharmacist.
Hello Totthi,
If you need to travel away from home with your eye drops then Glaucoma UK sell small travel wallets called 'Frio'. I think they may also be available from chemists.
They keep drops cool for about 45 hrs without needing a fridge. Just cold water is required , this evaporates and keeps the drops between 18 and 26 C,( even in an environmental temperature of 37.8 C)
I have had my small wallet for a few years and it always works well.
Best wishes
Hello muddledme.Thank you for your tip. Yes, I am going to Vietnam this summer, and the weather in there is almost always more than 30 C.
So yes is a good idea to buy a FRIO, but mine are TIOPEX and MONOPOST PF,they are in quite big boxes. So I wonder if there is big FRIO bag available or not? Thanks again for your advice. Tot thi.
Yes, Frio wallets are made in two sizes.
Mine is designed for 1 bottle, but there is a larger size suitable for 3 bottles.
4 individual single dose vials , or 1x 10 ml bottle will fit into my small size. I only use Theoloz Duo( UD) and Hyabak( multiple dose) lubricants. The outside pack is 3 and a half inches square or 8 .5 cms and I have a bright purple cover so it is easy to find in my bag.
Following eye surgery when I needed drops every 2 hours or so the wallet was extremely good.
It is so useful to be able to re-immerse the inner wallet after approximately 45 hours by just using cold water.
The packs come with detailed instructions, which seemed a bit fussy to begin with but like most things OK after a while.
I am sure you will be very well practised during your holiday !
Best wishes in Vietnam.
Hello MuddledmeThank you so much for the information, I will try to buy it on Amazon or Ebay. Best wishes, Tot thi
Hi thanks for posting it allowed me to learn a bout these frio wallets, in case there is a heat wave. I just wanted to say how amazed I am at the temperatures where you live. Is it the UK? I am SE Scotland and am way too hot when it is 21degrees C. Outside but it is never that hot inside, usually around 19C inside in the Summer.
My chemist was not helpful when I mentioned that I have travelled for ten hours in over 25C.Some on the plane, cool but on the bus, zircon not working,on the border control. So I am suc,Ed with 25 bottles that I do nott work.
