Hi

Can anyone tell me why I have to take Monopost at night and Tiopex in the morning? Just interested why it’s not the other way round?

Thanks

The simple answer is because they are designed to work best in that order. Tiopex is always used during the day and Monopost always at night. I'm very interested to know if Tiopex gives you any side effects or any problems?

Hi

I havent noticed any side effects with the Tiopex which is good, thanks for your reply 👍.

Studies show that when latanoprost is used at night, the IOP is better controlled throughout the day - they think this is due to the drop working better after 12-24 hours of administering it.

Timolol controls IOP better when used in the morning. As timolol is a betablocker it can lower blood pressure and slow heart rate. Blood pressure and heart rate is lower at night anyway, so if administered in the evening it could reduce blood supply to the eye.

Good morning. It seems to be any doctors personal choice. I’ve used latanoprost morning and night for two years. Since having cataracts removed in January I’ve been prescribed Tiopex gel morning and night. This has now been changed to Timolol as I found the gel left my eyes feeling blurry for quite some time. Hopefully Timolol will keep the pressures down

Can I ask if the the eye drop with the beta blocker (I’m taking cosopt preservative free) that can lower blood pressure/ heart rate, I have to take in the morning and the evening so could that effect my blood pressure even more?

Thanks

Ophthalmologists will prescribe eye drops for whenever they think is best for you. The information provided above are only guidelines/suggested uses. I'm unsure if they would affect your blood pressure even more, but I would check this with your eye specialist at your next appointment and continue using the eye drops as prescribed.

I also would like to know as I do this too. Is Tiopex a gel type that lasts for daytime ? Consultant did prescribe Try stop twice daily intially but stung my eyes so put me on Tiopex instead

I am supposed to use monopost at night but mostly seem to forget. I think I'd do much better if I could use it in the morning but didn't think that was an option. Maybe I should talk to my Dr? I've barely used it 🫣

I use it at night and for all my eye drops I set an alarm on my phone
