Coughing

Ive got a really really bad cough I’ve just looked at Dr Google and it says a cough can increase Eye Pressure by 30/40 percent. This is scary

I hope not Julie as I've been coughing like a mad thing for the last 10 days or so. My eye pressure would be through the roof !!! I assume it's a temporary increase like doing an inclined yoga position ? I hope you didn't go to work today and are resting up instead x

Oh Julie that did make me laugh. Not in a nasty way at all. Bless you, we really do worry don’t we about anything that raises eye pressure. I heard that drinking water really fast can raise eye pressure so I’ve started drinking water really slowly 😂. I presume you’ve done a Covid test? I agree with Engima stop googling!!!😉.

Hi Wales99 you know what I’m like 😂 I don’t like Dr Google but I keep going there. It’s mad. We do worry don’t we and guess what I’ve done the drinking one like you to and started sipping it slowly 😂😂 too. I have done Covid tests and all ok. I will definitely stop googling but I’m glad I made you laugh and I know you didn’t mean in a nasty way xxx

Yes, I stopped looking at Dr Google months ago! I've now got a cold and a cough, tried an old Romany recipe (from a book) last night - hot milk with a crushed clove of garlic in it. Tasted ghastly and today I feel worse!!! Probably kept the vampires away though!

in reply to Engima

Oh Enigma you have made me laugh . 🤣. Although your cough and cold aren't remotely funny. X

Good to know I have made someone's day! I had grated cheese with lots of raw onion in a couple of sandwiches today. I'm trying my hardest to get rid of the cold and cough. Unfortunately have had to postpone the lunch out with friends as do not want to spread it around. We are going to re-arrange for February/March next year instead. Hopefully by then we will have a better idea of how the Covid is doing by then and not have to worry so much about meeting up with people outside one's own family. Have a lovely day. x

Cold and cough cure: Try taking a regular warm drink of water with honey in. Honey has natural anti-bacterial properties as the bees add a substance to nectar when making it into honey that helps preserve it, which is why a jar of honey can keep for centuries. Combining with fresh lemon or fresh ginger or apple cider vinegar are all good combinations as each has “mucus cutting” properties. If the drink is warm/hot then you are inhaling effectively the vapour too to great effect. Bees have survived since the time of dinosaurs…so they know a thing or two! Oh but make sure it is actually pure honey (buy from a local beekeeper to be sure) and not just sugar syrup sold as honey, which is what you get in most supermarkets now as a cheap substitute. Even some big name supermarkets’ s honey has been found to be not 100% honey!!! And watch out with Manuka honey as that is the most faked honey of them all! Get well soon!🙂 🐝

Thanks Beecalmed. I usually try honey and lemon drinks - but do not have any at home and unable to get out to buy any. Next time I am out and about will try to find some local honey - can be difficult though. In the past have bought honey (that says it is from beekeepers) from Sainsburys - but one wonders! As for Manuka honey - too pricey for me and if some of it is fake..... x

It's just not an easy cough or cold to get rid off unfortunately. I did wonder if you had rescheduled, it's a shame when you haven't seen them in so long. So many things are now up in the air. What's the latest with the hospital? X

Hi Witchie. We were all disappointed that we could not meet up with our friends today, but it's for the best really as I do not want to spread the cold around (my husband has it a bit now as well) and also 11 posties in our postal area have gone down with Covid! Just cannot be too careful and it is definitely hard to make plans at the moment. Hopefully we will be able to meet them in February/March instead. Haven't heard anything yet from the hospital - no phone call from the eye clinic and no letter from the doctor I saw there. Hope you are feeling a lot better by now. xx

in reply to Engima

Gosh covid does seem rife in your area . You are definitely doing the right thing ,you don't want to pass this awful cold on,your poor hubby too, that's a shame. Our small village and surrounding area are covid free at present, we mostly have had very few cases. I would like to say I'm shocked that the hospital are still maintaining radio silence but I'm not . It's really very poor and the onus is just constantly being put on you to contact them.

My cold is loads better but still not gone but at least I don't feel ill anymore.

You and your hubby take it easy x

Hi Witchie. Since our last 'conversation', I have now received a letter giving me an appointment at the eye clinic on January 4th. But to date have still not heard back from the doctor there about the problem I am having with the latest eye drops (dorzolamide/timolol). So, another phone call to the eye clinic will be happening tomorrow! At the moment the eyes are not stinging or burning much but they feel full of water - particularly the right eye. I keep using dry eye drops during the day and a gel at night, but not making any difference. Also, of course, still on the Monopost. Getting rather fed up with it, especially not hearing back as to if I should stop the drops causing the problems, if they are going to prescribe something different, or whether I have to keep on them until my appointment next year. On a brighter note, my cold is a lot better - hope yours is as well. Have a lovely day. xx

in reply to Engima

Oh for goodness sake all you want is definitive answer about your eyedrops. You certainly can't wait another 7 weeks till your hospital appointment. On the plus side at least you now have an appointment but that doesn't solve the problems you are having now. So yet another call tomorrow, I would be be beyond fed up now.I know that watery eyes can be caused by having dry eye syndrome as it can cause your eyes to to produce excess fluid. My partner who have perfect vision and no eye issues apart from dry eyes was told this by the optometrist.

I'm glad your cold is a lot better, mine is too thank you but I still sound like I have one. I met my son for lunch and a walk along the esplanade yesterday which was lovely.

Enjoy your Sunday. I'm doing housework and then a long walk through the fields with Lu later x
